font-size: 12pt;\">I came across\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sportsbettingdime.com\/news\/wwe-odds-whos-the-next-hollywood-success-story\/\">this article<\/a>\u00a0that was taking odds on whom the next WWE star would be, that could break into Hollywood.\u00a0 At first, I was kind of like \u201cpffh no way\u201d when they had ranked Seth Rollins to be the #1 choice to possibly make it onto the silver screens of Hollywood (and not just WWE Film productions), but then it dawned on me that frankly, I\u2019d never actually given it much thought about who the next guy really could be.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">Typically I watch wrestling, because I\u2019m a supersmark that likes to think I\u2019m smarter than everyone else when it comes to wrestling, but I\u2019ve been kind of caught up in the cat-and-mouse game between the fans and Triple H, who is doing a damn admirable job of taking the predictions and perceptions of supersmarks like me that think we\u2019re smarter than everyone else, and turning them in all sorts of less-predictable directions.\u00a0 That being said, I\u2019m not really thinking about the future endeavors (see what I did there) of the talent beyond what they\u2019re doing on RAW.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">But it\u2019s an interesting idea, and upon giving it some thought, I took a little bit of time to actually think about who could follow in the footsteps of Dwayne \u201cThe Rock\u201d Johnson, and the more recent emergence of John \u201cJohn Cena*\u201d Cena, who did some show-stealing in\u00a0<em>Trainwreck<\/em>\u00a0with Amy Schumer, actually acting, instead of being a stone-faced Marine or vigilante.\u00a0 Especially since with the more recent partnerships the WWE has flexed with relevant and popular celebrities such as\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tmz.com\/videos\/0_ia2eqe8w\/\">Jon Stewart<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pwinsider.com\/article\/95890\/stephen-amell-injured.html?p=1\">Stephen Amell<\/a>, instead of the days of when they used to bring in people\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2011\/04\/04\/snooki-wrestlemania-attack-flip-fight-move-wrestling-jersey-shore\/\">nobody cared about like Snooki<\/a>, such crossover pots could actually be stirred.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">*<em>Nicknaming John Cena as John Cena seems appropriate, given the fact that \u201creal\u201d John Cena is assumed to be the corporate robot tool shown on\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/totfc.net\/?p=9443\">Total Divas<\/a><em>, which is a complete contrast from the super-paragon loud mouth white rapper in-ring John Cena persona<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">Ultimately, I have to end up agreeing with the article that\u00a0<strong>Seth Rollins is probably the most likely wrestler to transition into Hollywood<\/strong>.\u00a0 However, it\u2019s weighted heavily on the notion that frankly, I don\u2019t think there\u2019s that much competition on the current WWE roster.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">Simply put, there\u2019s no standout megastar on the roster that can truly generate emotion from people, other than John Cena, and he\u2019s already crossed the picket lines, so he\u2019s no longer a part of this discussion.\u00a0 American cinema tends to lean towards chiseled physiques, handsome looks\/bombshell beauty and larger-than-life personas to play roles in films, and there isn\u2019t a ton in either department at the moment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">My first thought was \u201cwho\u2019s the quintessential All-American hunk,\u201d and combing through the current WWE roster, there simply aren\u2019t many viable options.\u00a0\u00a0 I thought about a guy like\u00a0<strong>Cody Rhodes<\/strong>, because he\u2019s handsome and in great shape, and has good facial features.\u00a0 But the speech impediment has got to be a major ding on his qualifications, and when the day is over, I question whether or not he\u2019s capable of acting like anything other than a reincarnation of Goldust.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Zack Ryder<\/strong>\u00a0is kind of up there, but the jury\u2019s out on whether or not he can act, but physically and looks-wise, he\u2019d probably be someone who could transition decently to a television or movie camera.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">I disagree with the notion that\u00a0<strong>Kevin\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">Steen<\/span>\u00a0Owens\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cevery man\u201d looks are what would make him remotely qualified to go into Hollywood.\u00a0 I\u2019m under the belief that movies, like video games, and all other recreational indulgences of storytelling are used as escapes from reality, and I don\u2019t think the idea of going out to watch a fat Montreal neckbeard in a film sounds that appealing, given the fact that at any given point, there\u2019s bound to be at least eight guys that look just like Kevin Owens watching at the same time.\u00a0 His ability to speak French is a moot point, considering\u00a0<strong>Cesaro<\/strong>\u00a0speaks French and several other\u00a0<em>more<\/em>languages than Steen, but Cesaro himself is balding, and based on how painfully awkward he sounds when he speaks, he probably can\u2019t actually act.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">But if \u201cevery man\u201d is a desired criteria, then I\u2019d say that\u00a0<strong>Sami Zayn<\/strong>\u00a0is probably a more likely candidate to make it than either Owens or Cesaro.\u00a0 Sure, he looks a little too babyfaced, kind of like\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/a57.foxnews.com\/global.fncstatic.com\/static\/managed\/img\/fn2\/video\/0\/0\/021914_ff_harvey_640.jpg\">Wayne from the\u00a0<em>Wonder Years<\/em><\/a>\u00a0in my opinion, but he also speaks French and allegedly some Arabic as well, based on his Muslim upbringing, he\u2019s not fat and perpetually murderous looking like Owens, and genuinely seems like a more affable person, which is always a positive trait when it comes to trying to advance in any field.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">One guy that I thought would have been a lock, if for anything at all, the\u00a0<em>evil foreign-looking guy<\/em> archetype, would have been\u00a0<strong>Mada; the guy from\u00a0<em>Tough Enough<\/em><\/strong>, that didn\u2019t win.\u00a0 I\u2019m not entirely sure of this ethnic background, but he speaks fluent Arabic along with English, is a menacing physical presence, has the look, and has some slight connections as it is; apparently, prior to competing on Tough Enough, he was a physical trainer, whose most notable client was\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.usanetwork.com\/wwetoughenough\/cast\/mada-abdelhamid\">training the guy who played\u00a0<strong>Khal Drogo<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0from\u00a0<em>Game of Thrones<\/em>.\u00a0 That being said, Mada looks pretty much like a Dothraki as it is, maybe he will just end up in a future season of GoT.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">Anyway, enough musing about counterpoints, this would be my list of potentially wrestlers-turned-Hollywood, based on the current roster, minus John Cena.\u00a0 Going backward:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Titus O\u2019Neil.\u00a0<\/strong>I\u2019m a fan of Titus.\u00a0 I once said that Darren Young was in trouble, because Titus was both the Shawn Michaels\u00a0<em>and\u00a0<\/em>Marty Janetty of the Prime Time Players, because Titus was both better on the mic as well as in the ring, leaving Young as kind of unneeded.\u00a0 But Titus has great physical presence, is big and muscular, and has absolutely zero qualms with being able to speak on camera.\u00a0 He has a little bit of a buck-tooth speaking pattern which might hinder him a little bit, but given his combination of physical appearance and confidence on camera, he could probably get somewhere in Hollywood if he tried.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">Can he be a leading man?\u00a0 I doubt it.\u00a0 But perhaps a ceiling of being like a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/s1243.photobucket.com\/user\/movienewsplus\/media\/stills4\/Fast-and-Furious-7\/fast-furious-7-39.jpg.html\">Tyrese Gibson-replacement<\/a>\u00a0is the potential and that\u2019s still work.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Bray Wyatt<\/strong>.\u00a0 Consider Bray Wyatt like a single-shell shotgun.\u00a0 He\u2019s got one shot to kill it, but it\u2019s an effective one if placed correctly.\u00a0 That being said, in wrestling, I\u2019m personally tired of Bray Wyatt\u2019s persona; he rambles more than the Ultimate Warrior and Jake the Snake combined, his promos take too long, he can never get to the point.\u00a0 But his crazy Southern Gothic Cult Leader persona would make for one compelling character in an actual orchestrated story that could translate well into Hollywood.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">But that\u2019s really about it for Bray.\u00a0 If he doesn\u2019t nail it, there\u2019s little else he can really contribute, at least without massive physical alterations.\u00a0 At best, he finds his niche being the creepy sidekick in dramas, a la\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hotflick.net\/flicks\/1998_American_History_X\/fhd998AHX_Ethan_Suplee_004.jpg\">Ethan Suplee<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Becky Lynch<\/strong>.\u00a0 My first thought when I saw Becky Lynch emerge on the Divas Revolution storyline was her steampunky looking ring attire; back when I saw her in early NXT, such was not the case.\u00a0 Either way, the Divas of the WWE are a little lacking in potential screen jumpers, in my opinion.\u00a0 Basically, when I thought of Becky Lynch for this list, my thought was she could basically play any role that the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/img2.wikia.nocookie.net\/__cb20120323182527\/gameofthrones\/images\/8\/89\/Ygritte_Promotional.jpg\">girl who played Ygritte<\/a>\u00a0from Game of Thrones did, but older.\u00a0 It turns out that Becky Lynch is barely a month older than Ygritte as it is, but there\u2019s still a dramatic physical difference, as Becky Lynch is vastly more imposing than Ygritte, but still has the appealing Irish accent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">Can Becky Lynch lead?\u00a0 Probably not, but I could very easily see her have some significant screen time as a supporting character in a film.\u00a0 Most notably a future\u00a0<em>Fast and Furious<\/em>\u00a0installment; given the fact that Michelle Rodriguez\u2019s Letty character has been given wins over a hot raven-haired\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/life\/movies\/2013\/05\/23\/fast-and-furious-6-female-stars\/2162881\/\">Gina Carano<\/a>\u00a0and a hot blonde\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mmajunkie.com\/2015\/03\/video-ufc-star-ronda-rouseys-furious-7-fight-scene-with-michelle-rodriguez\">Ronda Rousey<\/a>\u00a0in prior films, Becky Lynch could easily be the hot redhead that could job in\u00a0<em>Fast 8 Furious<\/em>\u00a0or something, which being a professional wrestler, might be something she\u2019s understanding of.\u00a0 Play her cards right, and parley that exposure into other things.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Sasha Banks.<\/strong>\u00a0I would\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.miamiherald.com\/sports\/fighting\/article19921728.html\">agree that the connection to\u00a0<strong>Snoop<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0is probably her greatest asset, but aside from that, I really don\u2019t think Sasha has much to offer Hollywood.\u00a0 And I\u2019m most definitely on the Sasha train as it is, and I\u2019d totally be one of the smarks in a Brooklyn attendance that would chant for wanting her too.\u00a0 But the reality is that she\u2019s physically kind of short, and not really the tall, leggy dame that Hollywood so often seeks out.\u00a0 The jury is out on whether or not she can actually act, and I have a hard time believing that she\u2019s capable of leading.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">But that\u2019s just how powerful that Snoop connection is, to warrant considering her this high.\u00a0 Because Snoop is a joint and a TMZ rub from getting absolutely anyone into the public eye, and all it takes is an high idea to get Sasha Banks into brighter spotlights than wrestling can provide.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Roman Reigns<\/strong>.\u00a0 For obvious reasons, his placement on this list is pretty much solely based on his connection with his cousin, Dwayne \u201cThe Rock\u201d Johnson.\u00a0 \u00a0That along is probably among the strongest connections one could possibly have if there were Hollywood aspirations, and although I can\u2019t speak for everyone, let\u2019s hope that Roman Reigns doesn\u2019t.\u00a0 He hasn\u2019t demonstrated any genuine charisma, he\u2019s not really good on the mic, and he\u2019s only got two facial expressions: \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/thisisinfamous.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Roman_Reigns_05202013ej_0020b-2-e1380820087641.jpg\">I\u2019m going to murder you<\/a>\u201d and \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/MY0LwvA.png\">pffh whatever<\/a>.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">But if coz wants to get him into film, he\u2019s going to make it into film, because at the time I\u2019m writing this, we still live in a time where whatever the Rock touches has a tendency to turn into gold.\u00a0 Roman would be ideal in roles where he\u2019s kind of background\/sidekick muscle, but in no way shape or form, should he ever be thrust into a position where he would have to carry a film.\u00a0 Sounds a lot like his wrestling career, to be perfectly honest, but that relationship with one of the biggest stars in both wrestling and Hollywood is just\u00a0<em>way<\/em>\u00a0too powerful of a connection to ignore for his potential.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Seth Rollins<\/strong>.\u00a0 And now, we arrive at the prodigal son.\u00a0 Despite my knee-jerk hesitations to see him in such a high position, upon thinking about it, I do have to admit that Rollins really does have a lot going for him.\u00a0 He\u2019s that lean kind of physically muscular and athletic, like an in-prime Matthew McConaughey, he\u2019s a very competent speaker who enunciates well, and if anything at all, he\u2019s got the kind of mixed ethnicity look that could fit him into a large variety of roles.\u00a0 I could just as easily see him being the top villain if they did another\u00a0<em>Die Hard<\/em>\u00a0movie, or being the kind of athletic fighter in the vein of like Tony Jaa that would be used in an ensemble cast for a blockbuster (like another Fast &amp; Furious).\u00a0 If done well, he could parlay that into potential other opportunities, but I\u2019m not quite sure how he\u2019d fare in a leading role, although I don\u2019t think it\u2019s out of the realm of possibility.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">I still remain steadfast that this kind of positioning is based on a weak field of competition, but the truth of the matter is that Seth Rollins does still bring a lot to the table.\u00a0 It\u2019s really a matter of if he ever pursues it in the future, but for the time being, the WWE Champion can still enjoy being the (supposed) top dog of the company.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">However, I may agree that Seth Rollins might currently be the\u00a0<em>best wrestler<\/em>\u00a0on the roster that has might have the chance to go Hollywood, kind of out of lack of better alternatives, but I don\u2019t think he\u2019s\u00a0<em>best talent<\/em>\u00a0that could break out.\u00a0 Personally, I think if there\u2019s anyone that could really shine in an actual Hollywood (and not WWE Film) production would have to be\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Paul Heyman<\/strong>.\u00a0 Simply put, Paul Heyman is the best talker in the business, and being able to speak with conviction and in a manner that makes people stop and listen is pretty much half the battle when it comes to acting.\u00a0 He\u2019s engaging, he enunciates well, and he\u2019s sharp as a whip when it comes to being able to work on the fly and have to improvise.\u00a0 Given his general passion for the wrestling business and his countless times he\u2019s basically reinvented himself to adapt to the state of the business, I\u2019d be fairly willing to go out on a limb and vouch that he could probably fare pretty well when it comes to acting.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">Sure, he\u2019s never going to be the chiseled and handsome protagonist in any sort of film, but he\u2019s basically already parading around in the ring as the perfect type of evil genius bad guy there could be.\u00a0 The transition from the wrestling ring to the screen would be pretty seamless, and for some reason, I want to compare him to someone that could possibly emulate the kind of bad guy type that Paul Giamatti plays, when tasked to be the bad guy.\u00a0 The bigger question is if Heyman himself would want to; a self-proclaimed \u201ccalmed down\u201d guy on account of two children, as well as successful creative ventures on the side, would he be willing to give it up for a bit acting gig?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">Anyway, there we have it with the current state of the WWE roster, and contemplating on whom has the potential chops to cross over into film.\u00a0 The playing field is kind of weak as a whole, if you ask me, but it\u2019s definitely not without any potential at all.\u00a0 Unfortunately for those looking for the next handsome leading hunk, the WWE is probably a little barren, but for good compelling character actors, or some solid support action types, then there\u2019s still probably a good bit of talent that would be worth flying waivers on.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I came across\u00a0this article\u00a0that was taking odds on whom the next WWE star would be, that could break into Hollywood.\u00a0 At first, I was kind of like \u201cpffh no way\u201d when they had ranked Seth Rollins to be the #1 choice to possibly make it onto the silver screens of Hollywood (and not just WWE &hellip;
