The moment I saw that Cardale Jones graduated<\/a> from Ohio State, I didn\u2019t even have to look it up to assume that his degree was in African-American studies.\u00a0 And then because I like to be proven correct, I looked it up, and sure enough, Cardale Jones\u2019 major<\/a> was African-American studies.<\/span><\/p>\n

For those who do not really follow sports, Cardale Jones was a former athletic ringer at Ohio State who was brought in solely to play football, and made an imbecile of himself on social media when he said:<\/span><\/p>\n

Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain\u2019t come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Basically admitting that he was no scholar and was an athletic ringer that only served to feed the NCAA machine and make money for others for the opportunity to audition for the chance to make millions for himself.<\/span><\/p>\n

The point is, Cardale Jones was surprisingly no genius, and it was even less of a surprise when he dipped out of school early to go into the NFL, where he\u2019s basically a third-string quarterback for the Buffalo Bills.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Let me repeat, third string quarterback for the Buffalo Bills<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Fortunately, he was smart enough to listen to whomever told him to finish his degree, regardless of the fact that nobody in the world is going to believe that he actually did any work for it, considering he led Ohio State to the National Championship in 2015.<\/span><\/p>\n

The problem in my opinion is that Cardale Jones could\u2019ve quietly graduated and finished his degree, but much like the narcissistic sociopaths that NFL players often are, he had to get back on social media and put himself in the public eye again in the process.\u00a0 I\u2019m sure he felt that bringing up his stupid tweet from 2012 in light of his graduation would kind of be some sort of growth and redemption story, but I only really see it as a reminder that he did something stupid, and by doing it so publicly, being reminded of his sad existence as a college standout\/pro washout, trying desperately to garner attention.<\/span><\/p>\n

And because he put himself out there, I\u2019m curious to what patsy major he received his degree in, and am not the least bit surprised that it\u2019s in African-American studies.\u00a0 No disrespect to those scholars that are legitimate African-American studies majors, but I feel bad for the degree, since thanks to the University of North Carolina<\/a>, African-American studies have become the unofficial code word for the patsy degree given to black athletes given free rides to prestigious schools solely to bolster their athletic program(s).<\/span><\/p>\n

Needless to say, it\u2019s about as surprising as finding out that legalized marijuana in Colorado has immaculate financial benefits, that an Ohio State football player is graduating with a degree in African-American studies.\u00a0 I\u2019m sure knowing elementary Swahili and being reminded of all the racial prejudice throughout history is going to be a tremendous benefit when Cardale Jones is eventually bounced from the NFL and is actually expected to stand on his own two legs in the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sum1<\/em> better get Cardale Jones a good financial planner to take whatever money he makes from his short NFL career and find out how to invest it in a way where he might be able to sustain himself for a little bit, because once people stop wanting to hire him for his name recognition in Ohio and when all the car dealerships have moved onto more current and relevant athletes, he\u2019s going to be in for a rude awakening.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
