About as shocking as political corruption<\/a>: some MARTA employees believe they\u2019re not ready for the Super Bowl<\/span><\/p>\n

When it was announced that Atlanta was going to get the Super Bowl in 2019, I remember telling myself to absolutely avoid going anywhere remotely near the city at any time remotely near then.\u00a0 Not that I have nearly as much business inside city proper anymore these days, but in case I want to go to some restaurant in town or someone might be visiting, I just need to remind myself to stay the fuck away that entire week and especially day of game.<\/span><\/p>\n

But yeah back to MARTA being ill-prepared for the Super Bowl \u2013 is this really any surprise?\u00a0 Like really, is absolutely anyone on the planet surprised by these anonymous admissions from inside?\u00a0 MARTA is about as reliable as a fat person at Golden Corral, or my dog left unattended in the kitchen; put them in circumstances where failure is inevitable, and failure is a sure bet to happen.<\/span><\/p>\n

The best part to me is the fact that everyone in the city knew the Super Bowl was coming, and yet MARTA has completely dropped the ball at remotely getting themselves remotely prepared for it.\u00a0 They even have had some really good practice runs, with the College Football National Championship game a year ago, and several other major bowl games and sporting events.\u00a0 Yet, the Super Bowl, which often times eclipses all other major events on deck, and they\u2019re still not remotely closed to ready.<\/span><\/p>\n

With personnel shortages combining for nearly 300 bodies, including mechanics, bus drivers and police officers, it\u2019s going to be a real fun next few months as the agency will be forced to scramble like crazy, try and train a bunch of invalids to do jobs that so few people want to do, and expect them to be on their A-game when February 3 rolls around.<\/span><\/p>\n

All I know is that I won\u2019t be anywhere near the shitshow when the date gets closer, but I\u2019ll definitely be afar and ready to point and laugh at all the sad sacks of people who come to Atlanta and think that the local public transportation will be remotely sufficient at fulfilling their transport needs.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
