Takumi Fujiwara

The lackidasical main character of the series, Takumi is a person who drives, not because he likes to, but because it's his job. Every early morning, Takumi drives his family's tofu shop's Hachi-Roku (nickname for the car, meaning "Eight-Six") and delivers tofu to a hotel on Akina, and speeds down the mountain to get home as fast as possible. Throughout the many years of deliveries, Takumi's skill becomes extraordinary, and his drift control is second to none.

Takumi is the man to beat, throughout the series, as he continuously beats the odds, holding victories over high-powered cars in the Hachi-Roku.

Takumi is otherwise an ordinary high school student who always seems tired and bored (hey, he wakes up at 4AM everyday!).

Kouichirou Iketani
Age: 21
Voice: Kazuki Yao
Car: S13 Nissan Silvia

Yeah, this is the guy that makes Mako swoon. ;)   Working at the same gas station that Takumi also works at, and the leader of the local Akina Speedstars team, Iketani is a major car enthusiast. Not that skilled of a driver, Iketani makes up for it with determination and an aspiration to get better. Unlike Takumi, Iketani is very good with mechanics and technical stuff, and it's knowledge like that which got him in good graces with Mako. :)

Keisuke Takahashi
Age: 21
Voice: Seki Tomokazu
Car: Mazda Efini FD3S RX-7

The firey-tempered number two of the dominating Akagi Redsuns team, Keisuke is unfortunately the first victim to the Takumi Fujiwara legacy. Unfamiliar with the territory and unaware of Takumi's skill, Keisuke was humiliated on Akina's mountain pass when the then mysterious ghost of a Hachi-Roku proceeded to overtake, and then leave the shocked Keisuke spun-out and stopped in the middle of the road.

Takeshi Nakazato
Age: 22
Voice: Nobuyuki Hiyama
Car: R32 Nissan Skyline GT-R

The leader of the Myogi Night Kids, and he drives the most powerful car of the series, his R32 GT-R packing a monstrous 392 hp! He is a skilled racer who is Myogi's fastest uphill as well as downhill, but has a problem dealing with high-pressure situations. Nakazato develops an interesting crush on Sayuki, when he is impressed by her pretty face, and *ahem* bouncy chest. "...pururu..."

Shouji Shingo
Age: 20
Voice: Keiji Fujiwara
Car: Honda Civic EG6 type-R

Claiming to be the fastest downhill racer of the Night Kids, Shingo is also the only racer of the First Stage to be driving an FF car. The number two of the Night Kids, he and Nakazato don't quite get along very well. A typical bad-guy, Shingo uses dirty methods in order to get the win, like tapping bumpers or slamming his brakes. It is Shingo in the Extra Stage that warns Sayuki of Team Emperor's plans.
