Brad Coon\u00a0<\/strong>is a player on the Montgomery Biscuits, and people really love to cheer for him.<\/p>\n The strange thing is that Brad Coon is not a supremely talented baseball player.\u00a0 Brad Coon is 29-years old, and in his seventh year playing exclusively minor league baseball.\u00a0 The Montgomery Biscuits are a AA-level minor league team, and the typical age for AA players with legitimate futures is typically anywhere from 20-23 years old.\u00a0 In years prior, Brad Coon played for AAA-level affiliates for the Angels, Dodgers and Nationals, but upon landing with the Rays, they assigned him to AA.<\/p>\n So Brad Coon is considered way old for his level of competition, but his current statistics indicate that it’s fairly appropriate in terms of skill.\u00a0 Which is another way of me saying that Brad Coon isn’t exactly the most talented baseball player in the world.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n But if you heard the fans chanting Brad Coon’s name, especially his last one, you’d think he were Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, or Peyton Manning.\u00a0 When Brad Coon steps onto the on-deck circle, the “COON” chants begin.\u00a0 When Brad Coon steps into the batter’s box, “C’mon Coon!” and “Let’s go, Coon!” resonate through the stands of Riverwalk Stadium.<\/p>\n The fans sure love Brad Coon.<\/p>\n Of course by now, you must realize that I am being facetious.\u00a0 It’s almost alarmingly amusing the way people in the stands of a Biscuits game love to exploit the fact that they can say “coon” as much as they want and as loud as they want under the guise that it’s simply because it’s the name printed on the back of Brad Coon’s jersey.\u00a0 There’s practically a feeling of disappointment in the crowd when he goes back to the dugout after making an out, which based on his numbers, is fairly often.\u00a0 But barring substitution, Brad Coon’s typically good to receive 3-4 plate appearances a game, with occasional bonus on-deck circle appearances when he’s behind the third out of an inning, so the fans sure do get ample chances sometimes to reign their support for Brad Coon onto Brad Coon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Brad Coon\u00a0is a player on the Montgomery Biscuits, and people really love to cheer for him.
