I feel the need to write something before I embark on a four-day weekend a week before the craziest four-day weekend of the year.\u00a0 Needless to say, between the events of this weekend, and the events of next weekend, there really isn\u2019t going to be much time for me to actually makes posts to my beloved brog, unless it is of the mobile and fluffy variety.\u00a0 I take pride in my ability to maintain commitment to my brog, and refusal to let it become one of the millions of blogs out there that have gathered dust and been abandoned by disillusioned posers from all walks of life.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Anyway despite the fact time is kind of at a premium this time of year, every year, I\u2019m embarking to upstate New York this weekend, for a massive minor league baseball trip.\u00a0 In four days, I\u2019ll be seeing four new minor league ballparks, which means that there will be four new entries into my baseball parks site in the future.\u00a0 My best friend and I have yet to do our annual baseball road trip this year, and this is going to rectify that.<\/span><\/p>\n And then of course, there\u2019s Dragon*Con the following weekend.\u00a0 Most people reading my brog in the first place have a general understanding of what D*C is about in the first place, so there\u2019s really not much to say about the expectations.\u00a0 As I do every year, I look forward to seeing friends from near and far, and pretending like I can take a decent picture of people in costumes.\u00a0 But really, it\u2019s going to be like eating at the Peachtree Center Willy\u2019s like seven times and probably getting blitzed drunk at least once during the weekend, with veiled hopes that I\u2019ll meet a girl through drunken happenstance.<\/span><\/p>\n Of course I\u2019m looking forward to Dragon*Con.<\/span><\/p>\n But yeah, since it doesn\u2019t look like I\u2019m going to have the time to make many, if any, posts at all prior to Dragon*Con, making my August total post count pale in comparison to all the other months and years I\u2019ve been brogging, I\u2019m going to be a little all over the place with the rest of this post (as if\u00a0that\u2019s<\/em>\u00a0any different than usual).<\/span><\/p>\n Ever since my last trip up to Northern Virginia, and dealing with family bullshit, I\u2019m fairly positive that my fuse has been precariously short.\u00a0 Even I\u2019m aware to how much less patience I have for life in general lately, and everything seems to peeve me more frequently than usual.\u00a0 I think I\u2019m short-tempered, and commuting to and from work is making me hate life sometimes.\u00a0 Either the world around me has gotten dumber and pays lesser attention than ever, or it\u2019s my lack of patience really noticing how much everyone is inconveniencing me.<\/span><\/p>\n Sometimes, I think I need therapy.\u00a0 Like, really.\u00a0 Friends and family are always saying that they\u2019re there for me when I need it, but I don\u2019t really think I can always rely on them.\u00a0 Either people aren\u2019t really there when I need them, because let\u2019s face it, we\u2019re all busy people with our own lives, and sometimes it\u2019s not convenient to have to listen to someone wanting to vent.\u00a0 Or, there are people who are desensitized to divorce or having a dysfunctional family, because they\u2019ve been through it themselves, and offer me zero to little sympathy, empathy, or are just too hardened by it to be of any comfort.<\/span><\/p>\n But enough of that emo-y bullshit, I\u2019m sure all seven of my readers are tired about reading about it by now.<\/span><\/p>\n For the past two weeks, I\u2019ve gotten a good bit of entertainment out of SyFy\u2019s\u00a0Heroes of Cosplay<\/em>.\u00a0 Obviously, television is going to do whatever it takes with the footage they\u2019ve filmed to make the most captivating and dramatic television they can make, but two episodes in, and the show\u2019s done a good job of portraying completely missing the point of people dressing up at conventions in the first place.<\/span><\/p>\n I won\u2019t really delve that much further into it, but one message that was conveyed that glares a little to me was that people \u201cshould be mindful\u201d of what they dress as, and should stay somewhat close to their own physical attributes when selecting a character to portray.\u00a0 This directly contradicts the message spoken by the same person in the promos of \u201cyou can be who you want to be with COSPLAY!!1<\/em>\u201d because 300 lb people shouldn\u2019t dress up as a characters that are svelte and slim, black guys should stop trying to dress up as Ryu, and pretty much I should stop trying to dress up as characters that aren\u2019t chubby Asian males.<\/span><\/p>\n Ironically by this logic, the person who made this statement should probably stick to Chun-Li, Mulan, Ada Wong, Lei-Fang and only Asian females, but that\u2019s just my opinion.<\/span><\/p>\n It\u2019s nothing personal, and I am finding the show entertaining, albeit in a more ironic way, but still, nothing\u2019s going to take away the fact that after being a geeky, somewhat discreet subculture for so long, it was successfully pitched into a nationally-televised program.<\/span><\/p>\n And I guess that\u2019s really it for now, I suppose.\u00a0 As much as I\u2019m looking forward to these events, I\u2019m also kind of looking forward to when they\u2019re in the rearview mirror too.\u00a0 I haven\u2019t really had much time, in general, to just do, nothing.\u00a0 It always feels like there\u2019s a deadline looming somewhere, and once Dragon*Con passes, that feeling probably dissipates.\u00a0 I can catch up on TV shows (maybe), actually watch a Braves game, actually maybe GO to a Braves game, and relax a little bit.<\/span><\/p>\n Most importantly, I look forward to getting to playing\u00a0League<\/em>\u00a0again.\u00a0 Shit, I LITRALLY.\u00a0 Haven\u2019t played a single game since the day before Comic-Con, back in
