Typically, there\u2019s nothing special at all about particular numbers, especially when it comes to recreational hobby blogging.\u00a0 But I\u2019m a fan of baseball, where numbers make the world go round, and where nice round ones are championed and celebrated at every opportunity, and I\u2019m also a pretty sentimental guy who often times puts more stock into something than really should be deemed necessary, like nice round numbers.<\/span><\/p>\n

But anyway, this is a very special post to me, because it happens to be the 1,000th<\/sup>\u00a0post I\u2019ve made to my beloved brog.\u00a0 Now I\u2019ve been brogging a lot longer, since there were about nine years prior to moving it to a WordPress format where I was doing it prehistorically, but since WP is nice enough to do all the number crunching for me, and display it in a prominent area in its dashboard, I\u2019ve always been cognizant to the ever-increasing numbers throughout the past three years and change as I\u2019ve made my best efforts to try to post something on a workday basis.<\/span><\/p>\n

I genuinely do take a good deal of pride in this superficial number, because frankly, I\u2019m hard pressed to find anyone like me who blogs as a side hobby, remotely close to dedicated as I do.\u00a0 Obviously, I\u2019m not saying that these people don\u2019t exist, but I sure as hell don\u2019t know any.\u00a0 I hate to say that I have no faith in others, but the truth of the matter is that I shrug and mentally make bets in my head whenever people start a blog, to how soon it will be before they ultimately abandon it; I really hate to sound so pessimistic about it, but frankly nobody\u2019s proven to me the ability to go half a year, much less over three years, before their posting weans off, the novelty is gone, and then the desire goes outright kaput.\u00a0 I\u2019m not criticizing people, and I\u2019m not blaming people, because recreational blogging isn\u2019t necessarily hard, but it\u2019s pretty unfulfilling if it feels like nobody is reading, you\u2019re not getting paid for it, or you simply run into writers\u2019 blocks.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Sure, I\u2019ve thrown up my share of fluff posts, including once a post with nothing but an emoticon because I met a girl, but for the most part I can confidently say that a vast majority of posts otherwise I\u2019ve written have been of a fairly substantial number of words in each.\u00a0 Writing in general has always been something I\u2019ve been pretty enthusiastic about, I take pride in making my best efforts to post things on a regular basis for as long as I\u2019ve done it.\u00a0 I\u2019ve had my share of writer\u2019s blocks naturally, but I still feel enthusiasm when I stumble across a thought or something I\u2019ve seen that inspires me to write, and when inspiration strikes, it\u2019s like I have to get something written as soon as possible.<\/span><\/p>\n

As I said, I\u2019m a sentimental guy, so in instances like this one, I wanted to take a look back from the beginning of the WP journey, and take a little trip down memory lane.\u00a0 At first, I thought that I would try to decipher my favorite ten posts, but then it became twenty, and then I decided to start categorizing, because it turns out that there\u2019s a whole bunch of varying tangents I\u2019ve gone off in over the last three years and change.\u00a0 Sure, this makes me seem kind of narcissistic, but if I had to suggest the things I\u2019ve written that give a fairly accurate picture of who I am, most of these would be on the list.<\/span><\/p>\n
