font-size: 12pt;\">I was at the store the other day, and I saw a kid wearing a shirt that said \u201c<strong>I<\/strong>\u00a0<em>Converse Logo\u00a0<\/em><strong>MEXICO.<\/strong>\u201d\u00a0 Naturally, I get that it\u2019s one of the thousands of parodies that exist based on the iconic slogan\/logo of \u201cI &#x2665; NY,\u201d but it doesn\u2019t change the fact there are now thousands of poorly done parodies that exist in general.\u00a0 Just because most people can interpret what the intended meaning of a graphic is, doesn\u2019t mean it\u2019s an excuse for it to be complete rubbish.\u00a0 I really don\u2019t believe people understand how parodying I &#x2665; NY is supposed to work.\u00a0 Frankly, I don\u2019t really believe a lot of people understand how a parody itself works, but one thing at a time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">Take for example the aforementioned \u201cartwork,\u201d I\u00a0<em>converse logo\u00a0<\/em>MEXICO.\u00a0 For starters, it wasn\u2019t the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/wallike.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/converse-all-star-640x655.jpg\">Chuck Taylor circle and star emblem<\/a>\u00a0that everyone and their mother can identify, but the lesser used\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/yt3.ggpht.com\/-24gsJbjbcCY\/AAAAAAAAAAI\/AAAAAAAAAAA\/Hr8JcktkSFM\/s900-c-k-no\/photo.jpg\">chevron and star logo<\/a>, that seems to be more associated with their alternate products.\u00a0 Basically, the elimination of the heart outright means this parody is saying \u201c<strong>I CONVERSE MEXICO<\/strong>.\u201d\u00a0 I am not entirely sure what that is supposed to mean.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">There\u2019s really no end to the madness too, as the ball has been rolling for decades, and there doesn\u2019t appear to be any end in sight of the downhill slope.\u00a0 I get that these parodies are designed and created to convey their love for things, but if they were to be interpreted literally, they completely fall flat on their faces.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/totfc.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/fail1.jpg\">I PUMPKIN HALLOWEEN<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/totfc.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/fail2.jpg\">I MAGNIFYING GLASS SCIENCE<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/totfc.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/fail3.jpg\">I ATOM SCIENCE<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/totfc.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/fail4.jpg\">I MAPLE LEAF CANADA<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">And I think this one is my favorite I found on my cursory search, because of how redundant it becomes:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/totfc.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/fail5.jpg\">I CALIFORNIA CALIFORNIA<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">And that\u2019s really the long and short of this rant; all these bad parodies are replacing the heart with something else, and completely missing the point of the entire thing outright.\u00a0 You\u00a0<em>have<\/em>\u00a0to have the heart to really convey the point that something is actually loved in this context.\u00a0 I\u2019ll overlook the fact that many of them substitute the iconic American Typewriter font with other lazy, crappy fonts, but when the design is over, a heart is really the only necessary thing to convey the love.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">You know what I think are cool?\u00a0 Silhouettes.\u00a0 It would make a perfect solution too.\u00a0 In any one of these fail examples, a silhouette of these icons knocked out of a heart, would get the point across as well as actually make sense that there is a love for the subject at hand.\u00a0 Personally, I think the mark of good parodies is subtlety;
