#1 in being the city where pimps make the most money per week, that is.\u00a0 Go Atlanta!<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n Honestly, I can say that I\u2019m kind of surprised and that I\u2019m also not surprised by this revelation.\u00a0 It\u2019s not that surprising given all the evidence of there being a correlation between minorities and prostitution, and Atlanta being such a diverse place with a large wealth of minorities in and surrounding the city, it comes as no surprise that the prostitution rate is subsequently as high.<\/span><\/p>\n However, I do find it somewhat surprising, because as long as I\u2019ve lived here, I\u2019ve never seen any evidence of prostitution with my very own eyes.\u00a0 Now I don\u2019t make a habit of deliberately driving down streets in the middle of the night or anything, but I am no stranger to night driving, through areas where prostitution might be prone to occurring.\u00a0 Maybe it\u2019s not like an 80s movie, where street walkers in leather skirts and leopard print boobie shirts are hanging out on well-lit sidewalks, but the way the articles mention a correlation between prostitution to there being three major interstates gives off a little implication that some spontaneous street propositioning might still be somewhat of a practice today.\u00a0 Regardless, the bottom line is that I can\u2019t say that I\u2019ve seen any hookers in Atlanta, in spite of the evidence that apparently either a lot exist, or that they\u2019re really expensive here.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n What\u2019s interesting is the one specific location mentioned, Fulton Industrial Boulevard.\u00a0 I used to work off of Fulton Industrial Boulevard, so I\u2019m actually quite familiar with that area.\u00a0 I have a hard time believing that that region is somewhat a hot bed of prostitution, considering the fact that there\u2019s very few \u201cneighborhoods\u201d much less any residential area off of it.\u00a0 As the name implies, it\u2019s a road that\u2019s pretty much 90% industrial.\u00a0 Factories, warehouses and corporate headquarters are all that are on the road, with very few alternate occupants.\u00a0 Seriously, going out for lunch in that area was literally limited to like a Wendy\u2019s and a QT, although I\u2019m sure there\u2019s a Bojangles there now too.<\/span><\/p>\n There are maybe one or two office parks off of Fulton Industrial that I could imagine are good areas for rappers and pimps and their hos to go hang out at after-hours, but there\u2019s still almost no places for them to actually consummate transactions.\u00a0 So I\u2019m guessing that there\u2019s a whole lot of in-car action going on in parking lots in the AM hours or something.\u00a0 Either way, it\u2019s kind of funny to think that not far from where I used to work, is where it\u2019s speculated that lots of prostitution is going on.<\/span><\/p>\n Another interesting aspect to this study is that\u00a0revealed from another source is that Latino brothels and massage parlors<\/a>\u00a0are a high contributor to these numbers \u2013 the thing is, almost all of these are up in Gwinnett County, which if anyone wants to get technical, really isn\u2019t necessarily part of Atlanta.\u00a0 It would be like people in Virginia saying Dumfries and Fredericksburg were \u201cNorthern Virginia\u201d in spite of being like the equivalent of the distance to the moon.<\/span><\/p>\n Admittedly, my desire to continue writing about this subject has fallen completely flat now, so we\u2019ll end it with a lame attempt at humor in saying that thanks to this study, I now know where I could probably find some hookers or a happy ending if I were ever so desperate for one.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" #1 in being the city where pimps make the most money per week, that is.\u00a0 Go Atlanta!
