Impetus<\/a>: Movoto.com lists the ten most affordable \u201cAtlanta\u201d suburbs, \u201cjust outside of\u201d Atlanta city limits.\u00a0 Uses absolutely nothing but area population and median cost of living as criteria for list.<\/span><\/p>\n

For the record, the author of this particular post resides in\u00a0San Francisco, California<\/a>.\u00a0 I would bet money that the author of this has never been to Atlanta, save for the high likelihood of having had a layover at Hartsfield Airport.<\/span><\/p>\n

The following is the list of affordable suburbs, allegedly just outside of Atlanta:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Morrow<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Locust Grove<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Conley<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Barnesville<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Centerville (tie)<\/span><\/li>\n
  6. Irondale (tie)<\/span><\/li>\n
  7. Forest Park<\/span><\/li>\n
  8. Thomaston<\/span><\/li>\n
  9. Redan<\/span><\/li>\n
  10. Panthersville<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    I don\u2019t even know where to begin with this list, really.\u00a0 It\u2019s clear that the author has zero spatial understanding of the Atlanta area, and even less understanding that Atlanta is a commuter city, and one\u00a0must<\/em>\u00a0have a car in order to get from point A to point B, even if point B is 40 miles outside of the city or 150.<\/span><\/p>\n

    I can\u2019t speak for all of the suburbs listed here, because I haven\u2019t been to every single one of them.\u00a0 But I do know how to use Google Maps, and more than one of these names already seemed familiar to me, based solely on the fact that I have driven to Florida from Atlanta a few times, and seen several of these names while on I-75, nowhere near Atlanta city limits.<\/span><\/p>\n

    To my own credit, I have been to several of these places (AKA driven through most, because I\u2019d be crazy to step foot outside of my armor AKA automobile).\u00a0 But for the most part, here\u2019s a little more elaborated version of their list:<\/span><\/p>\n

    1. Morrow \u2013 a ghetto<\/span><\/li>\n
    2. Locust Grove \u2013 over one hour outside of Atlanta<\/span><\/li>\n
    3. Conley \u2013 a ghetto<\/span><\/li>\n
    4. Barnesville \u2013 closer to Macon than Atlanta<\/span><\/li>\n
    5. Centerville (tie) \u2013\u00a0literal<\/em>\u00a0halfway point between Atlanta and Florida state line<\/span><\/li>\n
    6. Irondale (tie) \u2013 a ghetto<\/span><\/li>\n
    7. Forest Park \u2013 a ghetto<\/span><\/li>\n
    8. Thomaston \u2013 closer to Macon than Atlanta<\/span><\/li>\n
    9. Redan \u2013 a ghetto<\/span><\/li>\n
    10. Panthersville \u2013 only community within the Perimeter; still a ghetto<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Long story short is, all of these places are cheap suburbs, because they\u2019re either sketchy as fuck and\/or they\u2019re absolutely nowhere remotely close to the city of Atlanta.\u00a0 Of course Morrow is cheap, because it\u2019s a creepy ghetto of a town that has high crime rates, and nobody wants to live there.\u00a0 There are lots of people I don\u2019t like in the world, but frankly, it would be too cruel to put them in Morrow, if I had the power to exile them to anywhere I\u2019d like.<\/span><\/p>\n

      Honestly though, my favorites are places like Centerville and Thomaston.\u00a0 Both are south of Macon, which itself is over 90 miles outside of Atlanta, and also substantially off of the interstate.\u00a0 Centerville not so much, but Thomaston is literally in the middle of the entire state.\u00a0 But Centerville is still pretty much an accurate halfway point between the city of Atlanta and the Florida state line.<\/span><\/p>\n

      Either way, gg, Movoto.com.\u00a0 Way to be in tune with wastelands of Georgia, and calling it Atlanta.\u00a0 I\u2019m sure if people relied on your crappy site for legitimate real estate advice, and moved to Locust Grove, thinking they\u2019re \u201cjust outside\u201d of Atlanta, there would be some severe hell to pay.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
