{"id":40515,"date":"2015-05-13T23:04:54","date_gmt":"2015-05-14T03:04:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/totfc.net\/?p=40515"},"modified":"2020-07-15T23:05:04","modified_gmt":"2020-07-16T03:05:04","slug":"the-world-is-an-obviously-vapid-place","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/totfc.net\/?p=40515","title":{"rendered":"The world is an obviously vapid place"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">At times, I clearly live under a rock.\u00a0 And\/or, I don\u2019t watch enough daytime television or something.\u00a0 But recently, I began hearing about the phrase \u201c<strong>dad bod<\/strong>,\u201d and suddenly I can\u2019t stop hearing about dad bods.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">Long story short is that I think it\u2019s stupid, I hope it goes away quickly, and that it absolutely affirms society\u2019s vapid obsession with the physical.\u00a0 It\u2019s a clear double-standard, because it basically says that it\u2019s okay for men to be fat lazy fucks, but women are pressured to become as hot as they can if they want any chance of success in the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">Frankly, I could blather on for 500 words or more on the topic, but\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mashable.com\/2015\/05\/13\/dadbod-the-daily-show\/\">Jon Stewart and Kristen Schaal<\/a>\u00a0hit the nail on the head pretty succinctly on their own, and I see no need for it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">My bottom line is that I may be closer to a dad bod than not, but if it were up to me, I\u2019d be closer to getting away from a dad bod than letting go of all restraint and dedication to physical fitness and ending up with one, just to be a flavor of the month.\u00a0 This shit is frankly kind of insulting to men, and I can\u2019t say I\u2019d have any respect for others who voluntarily try to feed the machine and take part in this bullshit trend.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At times, I clearly live under a rock.\u00a0 And\/or, I don\u2019t watch enough daytime television or something.\u00a0 But recently, I began hearing about the phrase \u201cdad bod,\u201d and suddenly I can\u2019t stop hearing about dad bods.
