{"id":42382,"date":"2016-05-09T22:03:51","date_gmt":"2016-05-10T02:03:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/totfc.net\/?p=42382"},"modified":"2020-07-19T22:04:12","modified_gmt":"2020-07-20T02:04:12","slug":"oh-atlanta-543","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/totfc.net\/?p=42382","title":{"rendered":"Oh, Atlanta #543"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Prhi3_Nvt3U?controls=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wsbtv.com\/news\/2-investigates\/atlantas-hiv-epidemic-compared-to-third-world-african-countries\/263337845\">Wince-worthy<\/a>: Atlanta\u2019s HIV diagnosis percentages compare to, wait for it, <em>Africa<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">This is pretty much <a href=\"https:\/\/s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com\/736x\/b4\/ea\/42\/b4ea420153c760f0af0dc4495e8941a7.jpg\">the face<\/a> I made when I read the headline; just the headline.\u00a0 Not just any old part of Africa, but <em>the Third World<\/em> status parts of Africa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">Like, I know it\u2019s a serious issue, and AIDS <em>shouldn\u2019t<\/em> really be a laughing matter, but come on now.\u00a0 Busting out a story like this is just begging for all sorts of criticism, but given the fact that depending on whom you ask in the media, there\u2019s no such thing as bad publicity, WSB is swinging at some pretty low-hanging fruit at releasing an article like this one.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">It\u2019s no secret that Atlanta is a city with an extremely heavy African-American population.\u00a0 But then to go and seek out scientific evidence that a predominantly African-American area actually share one of the less reputable stereotypes about Africans in Third World Africa in general?\u00a0 That\u2019s some fucked up shit, man.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">As if the passively racist people in the world need any more fodder to take passively racist jabs at Atlanta, oh look out, Atlanta\u2019s the home to some AFRICA-LEVEL amount of AIDS there.\u00a0 Stay away from those poor people, especially the black ones, because they <em>just might have the HIV<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">Honestly, I never understood, and don\u2019t think I will ever understand the correlation to poverty and AIDS.\u00a0 When I was struggling with money, it\u2019s not like I was offered to give myself HIV to make money to pay bills or anything.\u00a0 If I can\u2019t buy food, I don\u2019t eat, and I sell my belongings instead of prostituting myself out to people who clearly have no qualms with spreading the HIV to people who might want discretion in the first place.\u00a0 However apparently, there are many who don\u2019t have such restraint, and for whatever reason, there is a tremendous correlation between poverty and AIDS.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">But there we have it, Atlanta\u2019s HIV numbers are really no worse than, a Third World African nation.\u00a0 Yep, it\u2019s been scientifically proven.\u00a0 This is like when a debate on a stupid topic occurs between a group of people, that most are aware nobody really cares about, but then the one slightly socially awkward person who doesn\u2019t quite get it decides to put an inordinate amount of effort to get the facts straight and try to present their intellectual superiority \u2013 over a topic nobody cares about.\u00a0 But when they do, the rest of the group looks more appalled than impressed.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wince-worthy: Atlanta\u2019s HIV diagnosis percentages compare to, wait for it, Africa.
