font-size: 12pt;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/atlanta.curbed.com\/2016\/8\/9\/12408722\/tiny-house-village-atlanta-east-point\">What\u2019s old is new<\/a>: a \u201ccommunity of eco-friendly tiny houses\u201d planned for East Point, a neighborhood located on the south part of Atlanta<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">I\u2019ll be the first to say that although the traditional American dream often involves a \u201cbig house,\u201d that personally, I\u2019d rather not have so much house, that it becomes something of a burden in terms of property tax, upkeep, utilities, and simply not needing so much excessive space.\u00a0 Conversely, I wouldn\u2019t be keen on not having enough house, because that\u2019s kind of the situation I\u2019m in now, where it doesn\u2019t feel like I have enough space anymore.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">If given the choice, I\u2019d rather have too much home over not enough home, every single day of the week.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">That being said, I don\u2019t understand the seeming rise of small home living.\u00a0 I understand the want and importance for population density, and for a city like Atlanta that\u2019s always trying to keep up with the Joneses, packing more people into its metropolitan area is always something of a concern.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">But tiny homes?\u00a0 Entire villages of them?\u00a0 I can\u2019t say that I\u2019m even a modicum under the belief that this could really work, much less actually flourish into something beyond a modern day shantytown.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">I love reading all this rhetoric about how great these tiny homes are, under 750 square feet, and how many can be packed into a single acre of land.\u00a0 How villages of these things, placed near MARTA, (the royal) could help in stimulating and revitalizing everything.\u00a0 How it\u2019s the future of modern homeownership, getting to live in privacy without tenants above or below you, or with shared walls.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">Yeah, back in the day, this model of residential living was called \u201cmobile homes.\u201d\u00a0 Alternatively known as \u201ctrailer parks.\u201d\u00a0 Whose residents were often labeled as \u201ctrailer park trash,\u201d because very particular types of people were often reduced to this type of living.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">That\u2019s pretty much what tiny home villages are.\u00a0 Modern-day, relabeled mobile homes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">Smarmy Atlantans and those who support tiny home trailer park living can deny all they want, but given the proposed location of the first tiny home village, East Point, there\u2019s pretty much a 100% chance that it\u2019s going to end up becoming a shantytown ghetto paradise of blight.\u00a0 East Point is currently a ghetto and hasn\u2019t shown much indication that it will ever be anything else.\u00a0 It\u2019s where <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ajc.com\/news\/news\/local\/rapper-shoots-violent-video-in-east-point-city-bui\/npySh\/\">violent unauthorized rap videos are filmed<\/a>, and no joke just a few hours ago last night my phone got the Amber Alert message, because a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbs46.com\/story\/32724417\/5-month-old-child-taken-in-east-point-carjacking?autostart=true\">child was kidnapped<\/a> in East Point.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">Yeah, like most ideas for Atlanta, this one is with good intentions, but without an actual thorough plan and infrastructure behind it, it\u2019s destined for failure.\u00a0 Building a village of tiny homes is not enough in itself, because once all the homes are filled, the people that live in them will want to feel safe and have low crime.\u00a0 Additionally, they\u2019ll want simple conveniences like grocery stores and gas stations, and local recreation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">The problem is, Atlanta is quick to execute the step ones in any plan, but there\u2019s seldom any sort of follow-up for consideration for the reactions of the actions made.\u00a0 It\u2019s like the plot of <em>Charlie Wilson\u2019s War<\/em>, where the United States trained Middle Eastern forces to fight against Russia and immediately pulled out once the threat was suppressed; what was abandoned without any follow-through ultimately became the groundwork for Al Qaeda and ultimately other Islamic extremists.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">It\u2019s kind of like that, but maybe not on such a lethally terroristic scale.\u00a0 Atlanta builds fancy residences all over the place, but doesn\u2019t provide any infrastructure behind them, so that when people move in, they\u2019re pretty much left to the wolves of their areas without any sort of consideration of what their insertion would do to the areas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora;
