The San Francisco Giants have made it into the playoffs in spite of a shoddy second-half record on account of a shaky bullpen.\u00a0 The NL West champion Los Angeles Dodgers simply couldn\u2019t step on their throats hard enough to keep them out of the playoffs, and they\u2019ll have nobody to blame but themselves when they sitting at home while the Giants take out whichever team is unfortunate enough to make it out with the American League pennant.<\/span><\/p>\n

That\u2019s right, it is a foregone conclusion.\u00a0 The MLB Playoffs don\u2019t even have to be played really.\u00a0 It\u2019s just a formality at this point.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Being an even year, and the Giants have gotten into the playoffs, it\u2019s a lock, a guarantee, that the Giants are going to win the World Series.<\/span><\/p>\n

It doesn\u2019t even matter that they\u2019re literally the last one into the dance, as the second Wild Card.\u00a0 The Mets<\/em> are the one team that stands at the door to the party, and relying on the Mets to accomplish anything important is like relying on a 600 lb. food addict to guard your Publix fried chicken.<\/span><\/p>\n

And when they clobber the Mets, they\u2019ll upset the Team of Destiny Chicago Cubs, and then trounce whomever wins the Nationals\/Dodgers series; that\u2019s a toss-up, because both teams are notorious for getting bounced in the NLDS, but one has to emerge to be the fodder for the Giants.<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019m going to go ahead and guess that the Boston Red Sox come away with the American League pennant, because if there\u2019s one thing the Giants\u2019 even-year trend is good at, it\u2019s quashing destinies, and no bigger destiny to quash than putting David Ortiz\u2019s career out with an L on the grandest stage of them all.<\/span><\/p>\n
