Don\u2019t be deceived by the Braves\u2019 second<\/span> third place in the standings \u2013 they\u2019re in the division that refuses to have anyone other than the Nationals at over .500 in record, and if the Braves were in almost any other division in the majors, they\u2019d be the last place team they deserve to be.\u00a0 Which speaks volumes to how much the Phillies and Marlins are sucking, when they\u2019re somehow worse than the Braves and the Mets.<\/span><\/p>\n

Needless to say, despite \u201cnot\u201d being a \u201clast place\u201d team, the Braves are smart enough to continuously be putting feelers out in the world, and looking for diamonds in the rough.\u00a0 Which is to say, the Braves are a notoriously cheap team that is always hoping to find diamonds in the rough that they can pay the absolute minimal amount of salary and hope to get the absolute maximum amount of output for.<\/span><\/p>\n

With that being said, the Braves are one of the few teams in baseball left that still holds open tryouts, with 2017 being no exception<\/a>.\u00a0 Yes, that is exactly what it sounds like, where the Atlanta Braves conduct baseball tryouts, to the public, to see if there\u2019s any diamonds in any rough, that are worth taking a flyer out on, and offer the slightest sliver of chance at earning the chance to get paid (peanuts) to play baseball, professionally.<\/span><\/p>\n

I LITRALLY<\/a> could sign a form, show up to one of their locations, and try out to play professional baseball, for the Atlanta Braves organization.\u00a0 This isn\u2019t to say that any old person could go from their mom\u2019s couch on Monday to suiting up and starting first base for the Atlanta Braves, the person(s) that actually make it out of open tryouts probably end up in like Florida at the instructional league, or Danville at the Braves\u2019 rookie ball meant primarily for high school signees and freshly drafted college players.<\/span><\/p>\n

But still, despite today\u2019s environment of highly scouted and computerized player selection, the Braves are one of those teams that still uses the antiquated process of conducting open tryouts to see if they can snag overlooked talent for peanuts.\u00a0 I could go tryout for the Braves.\u00a0 Any one of my six readers could go tryout for the Braves.\u00a0 Sure, the likelihood of anyone becoming the next Ken Ray,<\/a> and go from nothing to the majors is slim to none, but good for the Braves for being cheap motherfuckers and willing to sink numerous days and man-hours to look for cheap disposable talent, and hope to get one good arm that might shift one player on the entire organizational chart, to justify moving LOOGY #2 from Danville to Rome.<\/span><\/p>\n
