{"id":45935,"date":"2018-06-12T19:19:50","date_gmt":"2018-06-12T23:19:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/totfc.net\/?p=45935"},"modified":"2020-08-07T19:20:01","modified_gmt":"2020-08-07T23:20:01","slug":"shouldnt-the-slogan-be-different-this-time-around","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/totfc.net\/?p=45935","title":{"rendered":"Shouldn\u2019t the slogan be different this time around?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"border-image alignnone wp-image-45936 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/totfc.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/rodman_wtf.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"510\" height=\"286\" srcset=\"https:\/\/totfc.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/rodman_wtf.jpg 510w, https:\/\/totfc.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/rodman_wtf-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 510px) 100vw, 510px\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">I was outside with the dogs this morning letting them do their business, and I couldn\u2019t help but notice that someone within eyeshot of my own fucking front door had erected a <em>Trump-Pence Make America Great Again<\/em> campaign sign in their yard.\u00a0 It\u2019s 2018, and we haven\u2019t even hit the midterms yet; the steam rising from the turd known as the 2016 election has barely dissipated, and this household is already putting their signs up for 2020?\u00a0 I can barely stand campaign signs in the two months before the presidential election, am I going to have to open my front door and see this shit for two more<em> years<\/em>?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">This is literally <a href=\"https:\/\/i.ytimg.com\/vi\/GyB6ffmXsZo\/maxresdefault.jpg\">what my face does<\/a> when I think about it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">It\u2019s a mixed household where it\u2019s an elderly man, presumably living with a married child, who has their own children.\u00a0 Although dad literally does nothing but tool around on a classic Chevelle every single day, the wife of the couple and their kids always smile and wave to me, the Chinaman across the street, whenever we\u2019re outside at the same time.\u00a0 I wouldn\u2019t expect such a friendly gesture from a household that advertises their particular political tastes, but then again fewer things epitomize white culture than false niceties.\u00a0 Or perhaps it\u2019s dad with the obvious political preference, with more liberal thinking children.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">Now that I think about it, I don\u2019t think I\u2019ve ever seen a husband in that household equation. Hm.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">Interestingly, this household has Hispanic landscapers who do a fantastic job of maintaining their lawn.\u00a0 They used to do my lawn as well until I realized that my actual property extended far beyond what we had originally arranged, leading me to have to end my business with them for financial reasons.\u00a0 But I wonder if they know that one of their clients is a supporter of a guy who has some pretty extreme prejudices against Latinos?\u00a0 Did they know his political leanings two years ago?\u00a0 Or do they prioritize making the money first and foremost?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">Either way, the thought crossed my mind to slip the leader of the landscaping crew a $20, to \u201caccidentally\u201d run over the campaign sign in their riding mower.\u00a0 Except, I wouldn\u2019t put it past dad to be Clint Eastwood from <em>Gran Turino<\/em> and immediately emerge from his garage with a shotgun, and then try to get them deported, so I guess that\u2019s not a good idea, because I actually respect the landscapers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">So my mind instead wanders to the original question: shouldn\u2019t the slogan be different heading into the 2020?\u00a0 I\u2019m not going to arrogantly assume that Trump is going to lose the election like most liberal people think is going to happen.\u00a0 The underestimation of Trump is a very strong reason of why he sits atop the throne right now.\u00a0 I don\u2019t think he gets nearly enough credit as a cunning adversary to knows how to and effectively utilizes all means necessary to maintain the status quo, regardless of public opinion and essentially meaningless polls and reputation.\u00a0 He\u2019s eluded all sorts of accusations and claims, no matter how many probes, how much evidence, and how many other people are convicted for related crimes.\u00a0 No matter what\u2019s happened over the last two years, he\u2019s still in charge and there\u2019s little reason to believe he won\u2019t cruise through his first term.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">Such a paragraph might beg to ask, am I fan of his?\u00a0 Not in particular.\u00a0 I don\u2019t care for any politicians, especially ones that have displayed flagrant bigotry.\u00a0 But the point of stating such things is it\u2019s presumptuous and flamboyantly arrogant to assume that there\u2019s no chance he won\u2019t succeed in 2020, and then the country will continue on, \u201cbeing made great.\u201d Such thinking will only lead to a jobbing worse than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=nB9J-2P5CsA\">Sting vs. the Demon<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">That being said, I have to ask why the slogan is still \u201cMake America Great Again?\u201d\u00a0 Trump won, he\u2019s been in control for two years now, shouldn\u2019t he be thinking by now that America is already great again now?\u00a0 Whether people agree with that assessment or not is irrelevant, Trump, ever the endless marketer, should already be chalking America up as being great now, now that he\u2019s in charge.\u00a0 Going into 2020, there\u2019s little reason to think the slogan should be Make America Great Again, because then it implies that he didn\u2019t do his job in his first term (lol).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">Shouldn\u2019t it really be something along the lines of \u201cContinuing to Make America Great\u201d or \u201cKeeping America Great?\u201d\u00a0 Ironically, Make America Great Again is a slogan better used for the democratic opposition in 2020, since the basis of a competition are two diametrically opposed methods vying for the opportunity to test their leadership.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">Essentially, there\u2019s an ironic humor to the notion that the slogan of 2016 has an expiration date, and by the time the 2020 elections roll around, contextually it can\u2019t really be used.\u00a0 And regardless of if it is, it holds all sorts of implications that those stating it are either supporters of someone other than Trump, or more likely the case, unintelligent Trump supporters spouting an outdated slogan, not realizing that they\u2019re implicating that he has failed to live up to the slogan in the four years prior.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora; font-size: 12pt;\">Really, I just want to see a world where the people of 2016 realize and understand that all their political slogan apparel is outdated and unusable, and to see people try to use new acronyms to less effect.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lora;
