{"id":46762,"date":"2019-12-08T15:48:35","date_gmt":"2019-12-08T19:48:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/totfc.net\/?p=46762"},"modified":"2020-08-12T15:48:47","modified_gmt":"2020-08-12T19:48:47","slug":"impossible-burgers-are-pretty-good","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/totfc.net\/?p=46762","title":{"rendered":"Impossible Burgers are pretty good"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"border-image alignnone wp-image-46763 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/totfc.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/impossibru_burger.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"510\" height=\"314\" srcset=\"https:\/\/totfc.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/impossibru_burger.jpg 510w, https:\/\/totfc.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/impossibru_burger-300x185.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 510px) 100vw, 510px\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">For a while, I\u2019ve wanted to try an Impossible Burger AKA the meatless, plant-based burger that allegedly pulls off pretending to be a beef patty, impossibly well.\u00a0 I was pretty alright with the idea of swinging by a Burger King to try an Impossible Whopper to see what all the fuss was about, but mythical wife was convinced that I needed to try one at a <em>real<\/em> restaurant and not a fast food joint, so that I can get a more accurate bar of what an Impossible Burger was capable of.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">It also doesn\u2019t help that maybe it\u2019s just Georgia, or the general state of Burger King as a company, but I realized it\u2019s pretty challenging finding nearly as many Burger Kings these days as there are just about any other fast food joint out there.\u00a0 Needless to say, I ended up waiting a little bit before I would get my chance to try one of these hamburgers of myth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">But over the weekend, I finally got to try one.\u00a0 Mythical wife took me to the restaurant she had in mind where I should try one, and I was pretty excited to get to try it finally.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Honestly, if nobody ever told me that what I had eaten was an Impossible Burger or any other plant-based, meatless hamburger, then I probably wouldn\u2019t have been able to tell the difference.\u00a0 It tasted like a hamburger, the consistency was that of a typical hamburger, and like I said if I didn\u2019t know it wasn\u2019t actual meat, then I would\u2019ve just figured I had a regular beef hamburger.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">In all fairness, I have a tendency to like my burgers pretty loaded, so what I had eaten was with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, grilled onions and ketchup and mustard, so the general flavors do get jumbled up in some bites.\u00a0 Admittedly, there is a slight flavor difference in the patty itself, but it\u2019s pretty miniscule and I ask myself if I\u2019d even have noticed it if I didn\u2019t already have in the back of my mind that what I was eating wasn\u2019t beef.\u00a0 It\u2019s kind of a slightly more earthy flavor, which isn\u2019t necessarily bad, but it\u2019s the tiniest hint that it wasn\u2019t real beef.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Overall, I was very pleased with the Impossible Burger, and without question I can comfortably say that I could eat it again.\u00a0 Frankly, this still makes me want to seek out a Burger King and try an Impossible Whopper, so I can get the other end of the spectrum at a fast food joint to see if the quality still holds up.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Ultimately, I feel pretty confident in saying that if there were ever a scenario where all beef vanished from the planet, and Impossible Burgers were the only alternative left to the idea of the hamburger, then I don\u2019t think I\u2019d really lose much sleep over it.\u00a0 Despite my life\u2019s history of demonstrating a lot of carnivorous tendencies, I have no objections to those who live their lives alternatively to eating meat.\u00a0 Frankly I don\u2019t disagree with the notion that if everyone ate a little bit less meat, overall health would probably improve; this doesn\u2019t mean that I\u2019m going to absolve myself of barbecue, Korean bbq and other reckless meat binges, but I can easily come to peace with the idea of eating less meat as a whole, and alternatives like Impossible Burgers make it optimistic that we\u2019re not going to be reduced to eating heads of lettuce and whole artichokes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">I mean if Arnold Schwarzenegger can come out and talk about how he, the once manliest man on the face of the planet, can reduce his meat intake in favor of revolutionary alternatives, there\u2019s no shame in other people adopting the idea that every meal doesn\u2019t have to be a porterhouse steak, not that there really was one in the first place.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For a while, I\u2019ve wanted to try an Impossible Burger AKA the meatless, plant-based burger that allegedly pulls off pretending to be a beef patty, impossibly well.\u00a0 I was pretty alright with the idea of swinging by a Burger King to try an Impossible Whopper to see what all the fuss was about, but mythical &hellip;
