{"id":47970,"date":"2021-06-11T20:32:18","date_gmt":"2021-06-12T01:32:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/totfc.net\/?p=47970"},"modified":"2021-06-18T20:34:21","modified_gmt":"2021-06-19T01:34:21","slug":"2-under-2-walking-on-eggshells-045","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/totfc.net\/?p=47970","title":{"rendered":"2 Under 2: Walking on eggshells (#045)"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_47971\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-47971\" style=\"width: 560px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"border-image wp-image-47971 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/totfc.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/0K5A3964.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"373\" srcset=\"https:\/\/totfc.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/0K5A3964.jpg 560w, https:\/\/totfc.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/0K5A3964-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-47971\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Photo courtesy <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/HCTSphotography\/\">Here Comes the Sun Photography<\/a><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Today marks 34 weeks in mythical wife\u2019s pregnancy, which is a pretty significant milestone as far as we\u2019re concerned.\u00a0 Child #1 was prematurely born at 34.5 weeks, and from what a lot of medical sources tend to state, premature once, premature possible again.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Needless to say, I\u2019ve reached the stage of walking on eggshells and anoos clenched that history does not repeat itself, as in spite of how well we navigated the waters and journeys of a premature birth the first time around, it is still preferrable to hope to avoid it the second time around, avoid the NICU and hope for a closer-to-full-term arrival, closer to 40 weeks than 34.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">All the same, we both need to be ready at a moment\u2019s notice at this point, as anything is possible now.\u00a0 Our home is relatively prepared, #2\u2019s nursery is pretty much complete, and if we had to introduce a new child into the home today, we\u2019d probably be in good shape in terms of preparation.\u00a0 But still, given the challenges and strain of wading into the ocean of firsts the first time around, we both know what we\u2019re hoping for, versus what we\u2019re hoping to circumvent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Regardless, it\u2019s crazy to think that it\u2019s almost arrival time for #2.\u00a0 Before I know it, I\u2019ll be a new dad to a second kid when I\u2019m barely getting the scent of new dad off of me from the first.\u00a0 As much as I\u2019ve been mentally trying to not become complacent, settling into the routine of the development of one kid, knowing that the second is right around the corner, with the hopes that once #2 arrives, the rigors of overnight feeds, sleep deprivation and the added challenge of two simultaneous children, I know it\u2019s going to hit like a ton of bricks all over again and mythical wife and I will be in for a world of fatigue very soon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Until then though, it\u2019s hold onto your butts and hoping for the best.\u00a0 Every day beyond the 34.5 week mark will be a gift, and I\u2019m hoping that we\u2019ll reach a point where mythical wife will be clawing at the bit to serve an eviction notice, rather than to be on pins and needles hoping #2 will stay put for just a little bit longer.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today marks 34 weeks in mythical wife\u2019s pregnancy, which is a pretty significant milestone as far as we\u2019re concerned.\u00a0 Child #1 was prematurely born at 34.5 weeks, and from what a lot of medical sources tend to state, premature once, premature possible again.\u00a0 Needless to say, I\u2019ve reached the stage of walking on eggshells and &hellip;
