{"id":49929,"date":"2024-04-26T23:20:27","date_gmt":"2024-04-27T04:20:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/totfc.net\/?p=49929"},"modified":"2024-04-27T23:20:35","modified_gmt":"2024-04-28T04:20:35","slug":"does-a-popeyes-title-make-chris-jericho-the-nueve","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/totfc.net\/?p=49929","title":{"rendered":"Does a Popeyes title make Chris Jericho the Nueve?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"border-image alignnone wp-image-49930 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/totfc.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/jericho_popeyes.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"280\" srcset=\"https:\/\/totfc.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/jericho_popeyes.jpg 560w, https:\/\/totfc.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/jericho_popeyes-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Despite the appealing card on paper, I didn\u2019t watch AEW Dynasty. \u00a0Frankly, I don\u2019t know how I\u2019d watch it, or any true pay-per-view event anymore.\u00a0 I don\u2019t have cable, so it\u2019s not like I can call an automated system and pay over the phone.\u00a0 I typically refuse to download anymore apps, especially to watch a singular event, and frankly, the WWE has conditioned me over the last few years of just how convenient it is to have a singular service where I can get these events included, and it\u2019s about as easy as it is to tune into something on Netflix or Disney+.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">All the same, I was intrigued by the card, to where I took the effort to seek out results, on the same night in which it happened. \u00a0Most everything happened close to how I\u2019d have predicted it, showing that my decades of watching professional wrestling has gotten to where I barely need to watch the product to know what\u2019s going to happen anyway.\u00a0 Okada over PAC, the Bucks over FTR, Ospreay over Danielson, and I figured Swerve was finally going to dethrone Samoa Joe, because you just can\u2019t keep feeding a champion the same guy three times in a row and expect the result to just continue to be the same.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">But amidst the results was one thing that caught my eye: Chris Jericho defeats Hook to become the new FTW champion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">So the question I have is, does Chris Jericho winning <a href=\"http:\/\/totfc.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/DSC05524.jpg\">a Popeyes title<\/a> (unsanctioned) count towards his world title count?\u00a0 After all, it does say \u201cWorld Champion\u201d on it and frankly, even in the ocean of championships that AEW has floating in its pool, between Hook, Jack Perry and Brian Cage, the holder of this Mickey Mouse blet has done some good work.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">That being said, that would make Chris Jericho no longer the Ocho, but the Nueve; I doubt such will happen, but it is still funny to hypothesize the silly wrestling logic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">But even funnier will be the fact that despite it not being a sanctioned championship that \u201ccounts\u201d in the AEW canon, I think it\u2019s a safe bet that Chris Jericho is still going to elevate it to the point where it\u2019s going to get some substantial television time and attention over a number of the men\u2019s championships the promotion has in circulation:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\u2022 ROH World (Mark Briscoe)<\/ul>\n<ul>\u2022 ROH Tag Team (Mike Bennett &amp; Matt Taven)<\/ul>\n<ul>\u2022 ROH Television (Kyle Fletcher)<\/ul>\n<ul>\u2022 AEW Trios (Bullet Club)<\/ul>\n<ul>\u2022\u00a0AEW Tag Team (Young Bucks)<\/ul>\n<ul>\u2022\u00a0AEW TNT (Adam Copeland)<\/ul>\n<ul>\u2022\u00a0AEW Continental Crown (Kazuchika Okada)<\/ul>\n<ul>\u2022\u00a0AEW International (Roderick Strong)<\/ul>\n<ul>\u2022 AEW World (Swerve)<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Because that\u2019s what Chris Jericho does, he elevates things, regardless of how much the fickle AEW fanbase seems to have turned on him, and are giving him the old Big Show treatment of pretending like they want him to hang up his boots.\u00a0 These are the same fans who will be bowing in the crowd and chanting positive things like \u201cyou\u2019re the great-est\u201d when he actually does hang it up, but a guy like Jericho also doesn\u2019t care, because he understands the most important thing about working is the ability to get a reaction at all, and he\u2019s a man who has thrived under fan hate in the past, and will undoubtedly do it again and again until he\u2019s done.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">It seems obvious that he\u2019s basically repeating the same program he did with <span style=\"text-decoration-line: line-through;\">Cesaro<\/span> Claudio Castagnoli, where he won the Ring of Honor World Championship, ducked him repeatedly and made him work to get back in contention, and then dropped the title back to Claudio, but with the title in a better place in which it started.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Chris Jericho hasn\u2019t hidden the fact his desire to work with, and elevate young talent, and there\u2019s no question that he\u2019s going to accomplish such with Hook.\u00a0 And by the time Jericho drops the title back to Hook in 5-6 months, the Popeyes title will probably be worth more than over half of the above listed championships, because that\u2019s just the kind of thing AEW would let happen, having a meaningless blet become more meaningful than their own prizes.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Despite the appealing card on paper, I didn\u2019t watch AEW Dynasty. \u00a0Frankly, I don\u2019t know how I\u2019d watch it, or any true pay-per-view event anymore.\u00a0 I don\u2019t have cable, so it\u2019s not like I can call an automated system and pay over the phone.\u00a0 I typically refuse to download anymore apps, especially to watch a &hellip;
