Photos: The Florida trip, second batch

The second day at Disney World, we made our way to the Magic Kingdom (of Strollers).  The weather was beautiful and the atmosphere was festive, but seriously, fuckin’ strollers, everywhere.  I know Disney World is a place to bring your kids, but I have to guess that if the kid is still in a stroller, they’re not old enough to really remember a trip to Disney World.  Regardless, it doesn’t stop legions of families to clog up every single walkable surface with strollers and poorly-watched children.  I enjoyed the company and I had fun on the rides, but after a certain point, I couldn’t wait to head back over to Epcot for another evening of Food and Wine Festival.

And back over to Epcot we ended up that night indeed, where more eating and more drinking commenced, with more drunken pictures and photobombing.  Despite it not really amounting to anything other than personal gratification, we successfully completed the “entire world” when it came to sampling at least one item from every single country.

Mission 50 Cervesas a critical failure

This is a picture I took in my first night in Mexico.  Because I was laying down on a bench.  Because I was drunk.  And this palm tree was all I could see from my perspective at the time.

Prior to my trip to Mexico, I had declared to myself that I wanted to kill 50 cervesas down in Mexico.  I wanted to drink Dos Equises, Coronas, Sols, Modelos, and whatever other Mexican beers were considered local, as opposed to the Bud/Miller/Coors swill readily available in the States.  I had this ambition that I would mark all my beers as I conquered them one by one, and would have a nice album of photographs documenting my douchey conquest.

Well, that didn’t happen.  I probably had like 6-7 beers throughout the entire trip, and aside from the cans of Dos Equis, I actually have no clue to what kind it was based on the fact that they came out of a tap at one of the random bars, with no discernible handles on it.  Not to mention just about every drink served was presented in reusable plastic or glass cups, and I was pretty sure there would be a hearty objection if I were tagging the resorts’ kitchenware with numbers.

Photos: 2012 Dragon-Con, Day Three

Finally, I bring to you the third day/night of Dragon-Con, which is my last, because I was simply hungover, and didn’t really feel social enough to proposition anyone still running around in costume on Monday morning to take any additional photos beyond Sunday night.

That being said, in this last gallery is of course, a good bit of costumes I saw while wandering around the grounds, but as seems to be the case in recent years, the last night is also the night where I get obliterated stupid drunk, and make an ass out of myself.

Photos: 2012 Dragon-Con, Day Two

Day two of Dragon-Con brought forth more and more costumes.  I hate to disappoint, but you may notice the overall number of photographs taken in this gallery is a bit shortchanged in comparison to the first day.  I have a logical explanation for that: I was in costume for a good chunk of the evening.

Day two was when I busted out the League of Legends Mafia Graves costume, in which I was so hard at work throughout the month of August, working on the gun for.  So basically, while I was in that costume, lugging around the gun that felt like it grew heavier and heavier as the night went on, I was without my fancy DSLR camera.

But still, I made my best efforts to photograph costumers, which coincidentally has a heavy lean towards girls I find attractive and/or sexy, and conscious efforts to get photographic proof that I saw the friends, acquaintances and good persons that I claim to know in my general life.

As always, I don’t have a lot of requests, but if you do use any of my images, a link or credit is greatly appreciated.  Photos after the jump.

Photos: 2012 Dragon-Con, Day One

I know there are people out there starving for some Dragon-Con pictures, so I thought I’d put a step towards the cause and go ahead and start publishing them as I make it through each day, instead of waiting to process all of them before posting.

Day one of Dragon-Con for me was mostly just acquainting myself to the convention again, taking everything in, and then eventually going to watch wrestling to interrupt socializing and picture taking.  Naturally, my focus at the con is heavy on taking pictures, and trying to be somewhat efficient at it, despite the fact that I’m a pretty lousy picture taker, relying on a fancy-schmancy camera to do most of the legwork for me.

So without further ado, here’s my pictures from the first day of Dragon-Con.  Have a little mercy on me and float a link in my direction, if you’re going to be sharing any pictures I’ve taken.

Dragon-Con aftermath

I think this picture succinctly sums up Dragon-Con, or sort of how I feel today, now that the con is over and I’m back home.  All in all, it was an enjoyable time, and I don’t really have any genuine complaints, other than the fact that it felt like the crowds were bigger than ever, probably due to so much college football going on.

Four Lokos, hangovers, and my debit card is missing.  But it was great and rewarding to see many faces I hadn’t seen in a long while, and play catch-up and hear all sorts of stories of where people stand today.  I realize that convention programming has very little appeal to me, and that I’d rather stand face-to-face with other people and share interesting stories with the occasional wandering eyes of tempting-looking women sauntering by.

Combined between my two cameras, there are approximately 300 pictures to sort through, process, edit and post.  This will not be an expedient process, since now I’m dealing with RAWs.  So I’ll try to do my best in coming days and get everything up as soon as I can, while trying to post and play catch up with the rest of life.

Mafia Graves gun complete. Ready for Dragon-Con now.

A little too close for comfort, but I am officially finished with the Mafia Graves gun, before the start of Dragon-Con.  In addition to learning about the wonders of Shell Shock, I have recently learned just how great stuff like WonderFlex is, as it’s what’s used as the gold trim accents to the gun’s wooden components.

But yeah, the gun’s officially finished, and for the most part, I am satisfied with this being my fairly novice foray into making a prop, with chemicals and pretty badass materials.  There are a few details omitted due to time and lack of foresight, but I’m not going to point any of ’em out to face scrutiny.  Maybe I’ll address them another time.

So with that done, I’m ready for Dragon-Con now.  Mafia Graves costume comes out on Saturday afternoon.  La Parka’s appearance is up in the air.
