Just doesn’t really seem right

I was driving to work, and I saw this car at a stoplight.  It was a Honda Element, and on the back window were two stickers.  Dead red center was a big, gaudy Harley-Davidson sticker, and in a far less flamboyant section of the window, tucked away in the bottom left, was an Apple sticker.

I don’t really know what I’m getting at, but this odd mish-mash of identities all conglomerated onto a single vehicle fascinated me to where it sparked me to actually write about it.  When looking at everything as a whole, I sing the lines “one of these is NOT like the others,” and it leads me to making illogical assumptions about the person behind the wheel.

Acronym fail, among other fails

I’ve noticed this particular billboard on my way to work in the mornings over the last few days.  Initially, I thought about how much of a failure it was that there was absolutely zero explanation to what “YMCMB” stood for, but considering that we’re in Atlanta, the particular location of this billboard often leans towards blatant black-power messages; I figured it was just another poorly-veiled “black people are better than you non-blacks” propaganda message.

But for what it’s worth, I’ve driven past it enough, and it visually stuck enough to the point where has piqued my curiosity to Google it, so in a way they have gotten a tiny measure of victory from their advertisement.  Unfortunately, it also verifies a lot of what I theorized it was and has subsequently become a topic for me to brog about.

Koreans can be so full of shit sometimes, too

I’m in a bad, foul mood today.  I feel like writing with a little venom.

I don’t exactly remember what prompted me to think about this story, but it came into my head earlier today, and I felt like writing about it.

Koreans are notorious racists.  This probably isn’t much of a surprise to anyone reading this, considering how often times I get accused of being racist, which is probably kind of true, but I also believe that everyone alive is a racist too, whether they want to admit it or not, but the more important thing, if they act detrimentally on their feelings or not.  I don’t believe I do, so I think there are far worse people in the world than me, who finds amusement and ironic humor from the occasional tasteless remarks.

How much the WWE has changed

If anyone were to ask me who I thought was going to win between CM Punk and The Rock, I would have said CM Punk every time.  It’s no secret that The Rock is a part-time wrestler, and there would be absolutely no point in giving the WWE World Title to a part-time wrestler who is only biding his time until his next movie role begins filming.  So color me surprised that the WWE went ahead and put the World Title on The Rock at the Royal Rumble.

Obviously, this makes things pretty crystal clear of what is going to transpire over the next three months of WWE programming; with John Cena being the winner of the Royal Rumble and can choose which championship he wants to go for, there’s no question he’s going after The Rock, and at the same time, hope to avenge his loss at last year’s Wrestlemania, as well as win the World Title.  Cena will win this year, as The Rock will no doubt have some movie obligation to do by April.  This subsequently sets up an instant Punk/Cena feud, where Punk can cite that Cena has never beaten him for the title, and that he wants it back.

But what the point of writing about wrestling today isn’t so much current events as much as it is just musing about how much the WWE has changed in recent times.  I used to believe, and justifiably, by these rules when it came to watching WWE programming:

  • Part-time wrestlers never beat full-time wrestlers
  • You never win in your hometown
  • The business always comes out on top

It’s occurred to me that just about all of these are hardly the case anymore, and that more or less the company has done a complete 180 in regards to how these things are handled.  I can’t necessarily say I agree with the choices the WWE makes, but seeing as how they’re as strong as ever and are the ever-adapting entertainment machine it really doesn’t matter in the end.

Why can’t NBA players make free throws?

I watched an NBA game while I was eating lunch the other day, because for whatever reason, Moloch Day seemed like an appropriate time to have afternoon specials of NBA basketball. Either way, it was the fourth quarter of a fairly close game between the Pacers and the Grizzlies, where anywhere every single field goal seemed essential. That being said, there was about a four minute stretch where neither team scored.

It had nothing to do with guys getting any bad luck with open shots, or layups rimming out unluckily, it was just a bunch of overpaid primadonnas throwing up brick after brick, with teammates open, while being defended, or opting for ill-advised fadeaways. But the best part about this four minute stretch was that during this time, five free throws were attempted between the two team with the Pacers shooting two, and the Grizzlies shooting two, and one technical shot being taken by the Pacers. All five of the free throws were misses, including the completely uncontested technical.

This seemingly endless slope of degrading free throw shooting throughout the course of the NBA never fails to baffle me how something so easy is so difficult to do, for the supposed greatest basketball players on the planet. I mean, free throws are completely uncontested shots; no defender trying to bump you, reaching up to block the ball, or even put a hand in your face. It’s just the player, 15 feet away from the hoop, with ten seconds to concentrate and shoot a completely unopposed shot; the fact that it’s called a free throw indicates to just how easy it really should be.

Yes, it’s time for bathroom talk again

I don’t understand people who flush the urinal before they take a piss, but then do not flush the urinal afterward.

Not entirely, that is; it makes sense to me if the asshole prior to you left the urinal unflushed, and it’s disgusting to know that that asshole might be dehydrated or has a little too much iron in their system based on their bronze-colored urine, but I don’t understand people who flush a perfectly clean urinal before/while they piss, but then leave afterward without flushing it after they’re actually done pissing.

I’d say I don’t understand people who don’t flush urinals after they’ve pissed, but that can actually be answered by either laziness, negligence, or a hippie-like mentality to save water by being disgusting.  So it’s not really valid, because the people in question still actually flush the toilet, but choose to do so before the fact, and leave urinal in just as bad of a condition as those who don’t do it at all.

Why do so many people in the hood drive like this?

Just about everyone has probably seen it.  Yet ironically, no appropriate images of it as an example really exist anywhere on the internet that I can find.  The above image is the closest thing I can find that comes remotely near representing it.  But not a day goes by where I don’t see someone driving their car in this seemingly pose that I’m wagering that anyone who looks around would also see on a very regular basis.

The pose is almost always a male; right hand at the 10 o’clock position on the steering wheel.  Their left arm is resting on either their left thigh or the arm rest of the driver’s side door, elbow bent, with their hand floating inches from their nose/mouth, but not actually touching it.  Fingers are curled.  And almost always, the seat is reclined back beyond a typical angle, and it almost looks like the only thing keeping the driver upright is the fact that their right arm is gripping the steering wheel at an unorthodox angle.

If you can visualize this description, this is where it sinks in that you may or may not have noticed seeing people driving like this before, or like me, regularly.
