Photos: Las Vegas trip, Allison’s birthday

A whole bunch of firsts here – first picture drop of the 2012 year, first batch of images taken with my DSLR, and first photo post with this gallery format.  Which is all in relation to the first trip out to Las Vegas in quite some time for me, the occasion being a friend’s birthday party.  No better excuse to hit up Vegas.

I often say that the mark of a good Vegas trip is going home with the feeling that you missed out on doing some things.  I ate like a pig (surprise), got to do some gambling, and saw a couple of shows, as well as enjoying the company of our large-ish group out there.  But I didn’t get to indulge in Erris Irand ribs, I didn’t play craps, and I didn’t go up the Eiffel Tower, so I can say that I left with some of those feelings of missing out.  But that’s a good thing, because unlike the last few times prior to my burnout, I have something to look forward to the next time I go out there.

I don’t know why I’m at work, so I’ll muse about 2011

I’m pretty sure I can count on one hand just how many people are in this office today.  Granted, I’m not complaining at the fact that I’m getting paid to sit here and do absolutely no work, but man, I certainly wouldn’t have minded sleeping in this morning.  But instead, I trudged out of bed at 6:30 a.m. to go run around the ‘hood in 36 degree weather, and here I sit, waiting for a few hours to pass, since I made it all the way out here already.  So with that in mind, and since I’ve pretty much seen the entire work-safe internet now, I suppose it’s not a bad time to sit back and catch up on some writing.  And with the end of the year literally right around the corner, why not use that as a topic?

Since I’m at the office, and don’t ever visit my own sites on the network for paranoid fear that they’ll one day find my online identity, I’m musing most of this based on what I can remember off the top of my head.  But the good news is that, as a whole, I don’t think that the encapsulated 2011 year was a very bad year at all.  Compared to 2010, it was a much improved year.  At first blush I want to say that it wasn’t anything magnificently spectacular, but the more I think about it, I guess I can say that 2011 was a pretty decent year overall.

Photos: Thanksgiving for the wayward

Blue Steel says it all.

Thanksgivings have been great since I started staying home for them, instead of traveling.  This year was no exception.  The destrucity of a 27 lb. turkey, successful Black Friday shopping, and the near completion of my Nanowrimo for the fourth time, all while sleeping in gratuitous amounts.  My kind of weekend.

Photos: Arizona Fall League Roadtrip

Alrighty, I’ve got so much fucking writing to do throughout the rest of this month, it’s not even funny.  Well, actually it kind of is, because it’s almost entirely, self-appointed!  LOLME.

Anyway, despite the fact that I’m behind pace in my Nanowrimo story, I’m still confident that I can hit the 50,000 word mark.  Even if I am taking time out of it to brog in my personal brog that I love so very dearly.  It didn’t help any causes that I spent five days out in Arizona over the last week to watch baseball and probably gain about 20 lbs.

Photos: Halloween Parties

Ahh, Halloween.  The time of year where everyone can dress like complete weirdos, and it be completely acceptable.  This year saw two costume parties, where my camera made cameos at, one being a pleasant house party courtesy of Bunny and Sean, and the other being the Scoutmob-sponsored party at the Goat Farm.

Unfortunately I don’t have any pictures of myself dressed as WCW United States champion La Parka at Bunny and Sean’s, but there are plenty of pictures of myself having the big gay adventures of Fisto at the Goat Farm.

Much appreciation to Bunny and Sean’s hospitality and the pleasant time at their abode.  Scoutmob can suck a fat one for having a relatively poorly planned event, and not even the included-in-the-cost-of-admission beer and wine (wine, seriously?) could change the fact that it was like 48 degrees that night, and I’m in a costume bare-armed and legged.  Sorta related, I have to admit, it was kind of interesting being objectified for once in my life as the furry brief-wearing Masters of the Universe character, receiving my share of heckled cat-calls from drunk chicks.  The Goat Farm party was okay once I got loaded, but damn if it was far from perfect, and very volatile for genuine sucking.

Photos: Run For Your Lives! Starring Justin Timberlake*

*not really Justin Timberlake

I wish I could have taken my camera along with me to take pictures during the whole ordeal, but it’s good that I didn’t. Between the mud, water, and the constant risk of biting it, it probably wouldn’t have made it. Not that there would have really been any time to take any pictures what with the constant sprinting and escaping from the zombies there was the whole time.

In the photos, you’ll see some photographs of the relentless traffic jams to get to just the parking lot, the parking lot itself, where no less than 25 cars got stuck right in front of my eyes, the before, and the bloody aftermath, and cleanup process. Good times, but man, I gotta reiterate how much work lies ahead for this activity’s future endeavors.
