Fuller House, first impressions

I’ve stated in the past that I didn’t really have high hopes for it, but what can I say, I’m a sucker for nostalgia, not to mention it’s a great way to passively sabotage mythical girlfriend’s Netflix queue with the garbage that I decide to watch in lieu of creating my own account locally.

But I’m three episodes into Fuller House, and here are some of my knee-jerk reactions:

  • Dear god almighty did Stephanie Tanner get some fake tits
  • DJ Tanner looks better now than she ever did back in the show’s original run
  • Kimmy Gibbler has barely aged
  • Uncle Jesse and Aunt Becky have barely aged as well, and honestly I’d take Aunt Becky over any of the other girls on the show, even now
  • Amusing for the show to immediately address the Olsen twins elephant in the room within the show’s first two minutes

General brogging

The formula for my writing over the last few years is that typically I find a particular topic that piques my interest or inspires words to formulate, and then I write as much as I can about it, and vomit it up onto the brog.  I’ve tried not to write for the sake of just writing, but on a day like today, I’m also thinking that there’s a little bit of value in such an exercise as well.

Basically, I’ve been feeling a little nostalgic lately, and I think it was spurred on by an old picture I came across while perusing through some old folders on my hard drive(s).  A picture led to a corresponding brog post back from the pre-WordPress days, and naturally it led to that awkward feeling of looking in the past to see how much style has changed from past to present.  Undoubtedly, back then, I wrote in more of a diary style that captured more of the mundane and daily living, and I could probably say that I wrote more for the sake of writing back then, then I did with a particular topic or goal in mind.

Sure, that means that anyone who read any of that kind of stuff, it would be safe to say that they might have an interest in my life in general, but for an outsider, or someone who doesn’t know me well, or at all, it’s something that’s definitely not worth reading.  However, that style of word slop was often times better at conveying my emotions, moods and feelings, because frankly I was more blunt and obvious with such things when writing about shit like going faster than another car, or my anal-retentive Uncle Tom of a superior at that current job.

Photos: Dragon*Con 2015 – Sunday Costumes

Finally, we arrive at Sunday’s costume gallery.  This is the last general costuming gallery for me, as I didn’t really stick around on Monday, and was gone fairly early in the afternoon, and had already packed up my camera.

Naturally, it’s packed full of League of Legends costumers, primarily.  If anyone were anything like me by Sunday, it’s like the convention as a royal entity, itself, was tired of all the Max Max and Jurassic Park costumes.

Anyway, there was still plenty left to catch my fancy, for hopefully some deemed acceptable pictures.

Photos: Dragon*Con 2015 – Saturday Costumes

The good news is that I probably took more pictures on Saturday than I did on any other day, so after the lengthy gap in between getting Friday’s and Saturday’s pictures up, (I hope) the rest will go by somewhat more expediently.

Like the last costume gallery, I was being pretty meticulous about trying to take pictures in groups of threes, or at least presenting them in a way that was neat and orderly (kind of), because I’m psychotic like that and have such a strong need for organization.

Anyway, this was an entire day of picture taking at the convention, before escaping to the Georgia Aquarium for their own Dragon*Con Night, which was an interesting escape from the typical convention setting, getting to look at the awesome collection of aquatic life in between taking pictures of people in costume, before it was back to the hotels for the usual devolving into the nights of drinking and camaraderie.

Photos: Dragon*Con 2015 – Friday Costumes

Since I’m the low man on the totem pole at my job, I had the unfortunate task of having had to work on the Friday of Dragon*Con.  That being said, I didn’t arrive to the convention until like 6 p.m., which certainly ate into the times of the day in which I simply like to wander around and take pictures of costumes that cater to my interests.

Needless to say, the total photo count isn’t really that high, but I still felt like I had a decent amount of time to wander and snap pictures.

My approach this year was that I wanted to snap shots in increments of three; mostly on account of the gallery settings I use in which I like knowing that every costume gets their own row, and there’s no odd-persons out with people having to be broken up in multiple rows.  So, it’s going to be very apparent that I’d been taking multiple photographs of everyone I chose to take pictures of.

Who would have guessed a pro-wrestler of the 80’s had violent tendencies

Impetus: WWE legend Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka found guilty for third-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter for the death of an ex-girlfriend back in 1983.

My knee-jerk reaction to this story was the fact that a case that was 32 years old was restarted, ultimately leading to the arrest of Snuka.  32 years.  That’s insane.  I’m 33 years old, meaning that this incident occurred when I was just a year old.  While I’m still sucking my thumb and crawling around on the floor, Jimmy Snuka might have allegedly been assaulting women when he wasn’t fake-assaulting men in leopard-print underwear tights.

I’m obviously no expert in the legal system, but isn’t there supposed to be a statute of limitation or something?  Like, some things can fall so far back in the past, that they get to a point where they actually can’t be fired back up?  Not that I’m saying I didn’t want to see Superfly get arrested, quite the contrary, regardless of where they are in my memories, criminal activity should be rectified; but I just was puzzled that something over three decades old, was still fair game to reopen investigation.

This is legit heartbreak

The spike into my heart: After years and years of dealing with dedicated Goonies fans wandering onto their property, the home owners of the actual home used to portray the Walsh’s home in The Goonies has had enough of tourists, and is taking efforts to close access to the public.

This breaks my heart, it really does.

One thing that I have always wanted to do one of these days was to make a trip out to Astoria, Oregon, and walk along some of the landmarks from The Goonies, because it’s no secret to anyone that it’s one of my all-time favorite movies.  I wanted to see the jailhouse where the Fratellis escaped from, maybe see the pizzeria (if it’s still there) on the docks, where Chunk watched the police chase and subsequently spilled a milkshake all over himself, and of course, see the Walsh family home, where the Goonies themselves gathered and hung out.
