Dragon-Con Stories: Mass Mass Effect

Apparently released on the internet within the last year or two, some guy(s) taught everyone who was interested how to make armor fairly cost-effectively and not that difficultly, using EVA floor foam sheets, heat guns and hot glue.  The result of such efficient tutorials apparently led to a very large conglomeration of DIY Mass Effect costumers this past Dragon-Con.

That’s all fine and dandy, but it turned out that nobody really sought out much originality amongst them all.  A vast majority of the male and female Shepards were all wearing variants of black and gray N7 armors.  I noticed maybe one or two who busted out some variants of the armor in white, but it pretty much ended up being the same color schemes of whites, reds and blacks.

I don’t really care about Mass Effect anymore

My friend forwarded me a link today; it was for some upcoming Mass Effect 3 downloadable content.  I haven’t even downloaded the “updated” ending downloadable content that was released, some time ago, I don’t really remember when. The point is, I realized that I didn’t really care about this new downloadable content.

The bottom line is that the way the Mass Effect 3 ended, I guess had a bigger impact on me than I thought it would.  I don’t remember abhorring it like lots of people all over the internet did, but at the same time, I don’t actually remember feeling any sort of satisfaction at it either.  All I really know is that going through the game a second time, as the ultimate renegade, as I had done in both prior MEs, felt more like a chore than being an entertained demi-god, stomping everything in sight.  In fact, I didn’t even finish that game, because I first wanted to get 100% galactic readiness, but then that most certainly became a chore, and I never pursued it.

Mass Effect romances, explained by Saved by the Bell

Throughout playing the Mass Effect series, one of the more intriguing side objectives is pursuing a relationship. Each of the three games gives you choices for your Commander Shepards to pursue, and depending on if you import your data from one game to the other, it mildly alters the relationship paths, based on your choices from ME1 to ME2 to ME3. Which is one of the only things you really can alter, to say the least. Oops; did I write that out loud?

Anyway, with the number of possible relationships available throughout the series, it got me thinking. Which is never a good thing, because then we end up with the conclusion that Commander Shepard is pretty much the futuristic Zack Morris of the galaxy. And that all possible relationships throughout the Mass Effect series, are easily relatable to all of the girls that Zack Morris was involved with at some point throughout the entire Saved by the Bell series.

Naturally, since I’ve only played as the male Shepard, we’re only going to go through his potential conquests. Suffice to say, these are probably classified as spoilers if you haven’t played through all three games yet.

This, is not a Mass Effect 3 spoiler

To my count, at least seven different characters in the Mass Effect universe promise to buy Shepard drinks once “this is all over.” As you can see, the thought of free booze pleases Commander Shepard, greatly. All he has to do is rid the galaxy of the Reaper Invasion threat, and it’s party time!

This however, is a massive Mass Effect 3 spoiler

Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Forcing upon myself, a break

I have literally spent a quarter of my entire weekend doing nothing but playing Mass Effect 3.  And there is still time for me to play more.  I have played more ME3 than I have slept this weekend, but that’s okay, because whenever I’ve waken up, it’s because of pretty sunshine, and not the obnoxious chiming of an alarm clock in the darkness.  But for the sake of simply doing something else, I have forced upon myself this break, so I can clean some stuff and maybe do something productive.  Instead, I find myself doing the e-rounds, since I haven’t even touched my computer all weekend either, and here we stand.

Now I’m off to save the galaxy

Despite the fact that I’ve owned the one game I’d been looking forward to for such a very long time for over two weeks now, I haven’t played it yet.  I’ve moved all my Mass Effect 1 & 2 data from one Xbox to another, which was a time-consuming act.  I’ve downloaded all of the shit that came along with the Collector’s Edition, which was a time-consuming act.  I’ve downloaded whatever patches already exist for the game, which was yet more time consumed.  But I haven’t actually started playing Mass Effect 3 yet!

That becomes rectified twenty seconds after I hit “Publish” on this post.  I am now embarking on a journey of intergalactic adventure and probably some virtual sexy time.  Anyone who thinks they can deviate me from such a path meets the fate of what is visually explained above.  The galaxy needs me.
