Sometimes, without tradition, then we’d have nothing to ever really look forward to. In spirit of Halloween is once again the annual pumpkin carving party held at Allison and Stuart’s place. A fun occasion marked with cutting up pumpkins, real and fake, good food, company, and lots of spirited conversation about swingers and cougars, and puzzle video games.

Photos: Final Weekend of the Regular Season
It’s a little bit overdue, considering this happened two weeks ago, and the Atlanta Braves have since been knocked out of the playoffs. This year’s regular season finale was probably one of the more memorable ones that I can remember, because since moving down to Atlanta, the Braves have only made the playoffs twice, but that was more before I realized how easy it was to actually go to ballgames, and typically they had a playoff spot locked up well in advance. This year was under different circumstances, since the Braves literally had to fight, claw and scratch to get into the playoffs, as well as rely on some other teams to trip up in order to get it. And in typical Atlanta Braves fashion, the threat of a meltdown occurred, in the first game I went to on Friday, with an embarrassing owning at the hands of the Phillies B-team, but salvation was spared on the final day of the season, with a tense and exciting win, with the playoff-clinching loss by the Padres later on that day.

Photos: River rafting down the Chattooga River
The past weekend was somewhat eventful, participating in the surprise anniversary party for Brad & Lindze, and getting back to the great outdoors, and rafting down to the Chattooga River up in the sticks of North Georgia. Both activities were fun ones, and very welcome distractions to the mundane woes of every day unemployed life.
And yeah, I kind of do look like T-1000 with the white helmet and mirrored aviators.

The 2010 Dragon-Con post and photos
That time of the year has come and gone again. People stayed over at my house again. Another year has passed where my boy Evan has followed me to Turner Field, and inexplicably watched the Mets beat the Braves, in spite of their polar opposite records (the Mets suck). Another year that over 50,000 nerds descended on Atlanta, on the same weekend as 10,000 gay black men, and 60,000 college football enthusiasts, with there bound to be some overlap here and there. Another year, another Labor Day Weekend, and another Dragon-con.
The difference is that last year, I discovered the secret to enjoying Dragon-con, and I actually looked forward to applying such a theory to this year’s. That being said, another year has passed where I look back and estimate that I consumed somewhere around 23 or so beers during the weekend, another year where I took a lot of photographs, and another year that the overall conclusion is that it wasn’t a bad weekend.
Photos: Portland, Oregon Day Trip
As I mentioned on Monday, I went to Portland, Oregon on a whim. Simply put, I wanted to see the Portland Beavers minor league baseball team, at their own place, PGE Park, before the season ended, and Monday was the only plausible game that I could have a chance to make it to. Fly in the morning, take advantage of the time change, watch baseball, wander around the city for a few hours, take red-eye flight back home. Everything went exactly as planned . . . except for that last part. I guess it’s not a baseball season until I get stuck somewhere far the fuck away from home at least once. I think I’m really going to reconsider standby flying when it comes to the West Coast for future reference. But it was still an awesome trip. I’ll probably write more about it later on when I finish up my backlog of things I want to write about.
Photos: Tom Glavine Day
Last Friday was Tom Glavine Day, the day in which the retired pitcher was inducted into the team’s Hall of Fame, and his #47 was retired forever. What was supposed to be an evening with a memorable ceremony, followed by a dominant Braves win ended up being an evening where the game and ceremony were both delayed two hours by a torrential downpour. Apparently fellow soft-tossing left-handed pitcher Barry Zito was inspired by Tom Glavine that evening, and struck out ten batters. Unfortunately, he pitched for the other team. 18 beers later, the Braves coughed up the lead in the bottom of the 9th, and lost the game in extra innings. 🙁
Photos: Chicago-Milwaukee-Chicago Baseball Trip
Sleep really Aboboed me last night. I slept for about ten hours. Thank goodness I’m not actually working today, otherwise, I’d be screwed. Anyway, if you haven’t already figured it out, I spent the last weekend and change out in the Central Standard Timezone, watching baseball, eating way too much, and doing some exploration. Ironic, considering I’ve been to Chicago like 5-6 times in my life, but never actually explored the place until this past weekend. Sad, too. But anyway, I have recently uploaded over 300 photos from my recent travels of my goofy and nerdy baseball travels.
