So you want to be a graphic designer 101

Where’d you go to school?  Savannah?  Parsons?  Ringling?  The Art Institutes of Blank?  Awesome, that’s a great start.  I assume you have mastery of one or several Adobe programs?  Excellent, that’s good to know.

Well guess what?  None of that means absolutely shit when you’re in the REAL working world, because 90% of the jobs you’ll be doing on a regular basis in working America will involve you primarily working with Microsoft Office products!  The holy grail of computer software, that can do absolutely nothing everything for absolutely nobody everyone!!!!!!!

Adobe InDesign may have trounced Quark as the standard within the Creative class when it comes to layout and publishing, but in the Corporate class, InDesign isn’t even worthy enough to take the soiled tissues that the almighty POWERPOINT uses to wipe its ass, and drop it into the toilet for it.  I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it’s the sad and unfortunate truth.  PowerPoint is the crown jewel of software greatness, as it’s WAY “easier” than Flash at embedding/playing video files, and so MUCH more “efficient” when it comes to creating forms and performing layout tasks!!

Adobe Photoshop may be an efficient tool amongst you nerds for making your memes and cheezeburgers, editing pictures of cats and putting esoteric jokes on top of existing graphics, but when it comes to true graphic design excellence, look no further than MICROSOFT WORD as the gold standard when it comes to getting shit done.  It only takes a genius level intellect to realize that none of the functions are decipherable without the assistance of Google to look up how the most logical of ideas are executed.  Word does everything.  Photoshop can only crank out lame jokes, while Word CAN WRITE.  Not only can it write, it comes with a library of pre-existing CLIP ART which are fail-proof when it comes to accentuating points and messages.  And you can drag and drop graphics from the internet RIGHT INTO Word, without needing to concern yourself about copyrights and photographic rights!

It’s cute that you guys went to art school or have a wealth of experience when it comes to using “design pro-grams,” but let’s get real, you guys.  If you want to make it in the real world, you got to be able to use the almighty Microsoft products in order to get there.

I blame the weeaboos

Passing through downtown, I saw a restaurant that’s going to be opening soon.  The name of the restaurant literally means “mom” in Korean (not pictured above).  So obviously, this is going to be a Korean restaurant.

Korean / Japanese Restaurant

Okay, this shit pisses me off.  Everyone knows that this restaurant is going to be 95% (probably poorly made) Korean food, but have a guy on site to cut raw fish and pass it off as sushi.  Why pretty much every Korean restaurant in the United States needs to add the slash-Japanese to their description is purely beyond me, and it agitates the fuck out of me.

Korean food is fucking awesome.  Korean barbecue is better than Japanese hibachi any day of the week and fifty times on Sunday.  Korean soups and stews are hearty and satisfying, while the Japanese renditions of such are watery and minimalist.  Japanese food is hipster feed.  Korean food is soul food.  Good food.

Fuck Japanese food.  Why Korean restaurants denigrate themselves by feeling the necessity to add Japanese to their description is completely beyond me, but if I can help it, I won’t ever eat at any Korean / Japanese restaurants.  I’m proud of my Korean heritage, and I wish the people that ran these fucking restaurants would be proud of theirs too, to where they’d be proud to serve Korean food to people of other races with confidence and pride, and without the veiled deception that adding loosely Japanese items would draw them in instead.

I blame weeaboos, and anyone who watched Lost in Translation and thinks everything is better if it’s Japanese for creating this stigma that Japanese shit is so great.  It pains me to see Korean restaurateurs feel the need to add / Japanese to their names thinking it would enhance their business.  If I ever opened a Korean restaurant, I would proudly declare it as such.  I would give it a Romanized name based off of an appropriate Korean word, but underneath it would say “FUCKING KOREAN FOOD RESTAURANT.”  And if any weeaboos or any similar noobs enter my establishment and try to order a fucking bento box or yakisoba, I’ll kick them the fuck out, and dispute the shit out of their one-star Yelps.

Korean food is the best food in all of Asia.  The sooner people realize this, the better off the world will be.

Livid. Absolutely furious.

A particular airline has lost my luggage.  Regardless of the stuff being more or less superficial belongings, I would still very much not be happy if the particular items were lost forever:

  • Practically brand-new Canon digital camera
  • USB jump drive with some work-related documents on them
  • My primary Atlanta Braves baseball cap
  • Two custom-ordered #39 Jonny Venters Braves t-shirts
  • My primary work shoes
  • Favorite sleep shorts
  • Laptop power supply

I blame:

  • One flight attendant for rushing his duties and breaking protocol
  • Every motherfucker who abuses the carry-on luggage policy and basically makes the overhead bins first-come-first-serve, by having their “personal items” being a whole other piece of fat, cumbersome luggage, and filling up the overhead bins, for putting me in this predicament in the first place.  Seriously, right now, I wish all you people were dead.

This weekend fucking kind of stunk from having to watch the Braves job to the Nationals yet two more times, and I was at first delighted to having gotten back to Atlanta on an earlier rather than later flight, but then this fucking debacle is just the god damn icing on top.

I’m so sick of flying

After I somehow eventually manage to get back to Atlanta, I don’t want to set foot on an airplane for the rest of the summer.  This means I will miss out on my dad’s birthday, and a family beach trip, but at this point, I really don’t give a shit.  Flying hasn’t just lost its luster, it’s become the mother of all inconvenient chores that does nothing but infuriate me now.

Now if you’ll excuse me, if I’m a betting man, I think I should start looking for cheap lodging for tonight, in Fort Fucking Lauderdale, and prepare to go to bed early as fuck so I can be up at early as fuck, and get back to this fucking airport that I’ll probably get bumped twice before managing to make it back to fucking Atlanta on a fucking Tuesday afternoon, taking more fucking money out of my fucking wallet.

P.S. Miami fucking sucks, but I’ll get much more into that when I’m not fucking mad as hell.
