Irony: Gwinnett County church’s sign vandalized; for having a discriminatory message on it

I guess the old adage of “two wrongs don’t make a right” can’t really apply when it’s likely that neither party believes they’re wrong.

But it’s amusing to me that a church is butthurt over their sign getting slathered in black paint because someone(s) who disagreed with an inflammatory message got butthurt.  Really though, it’s about as not smart to publicly put in writing shit like “Satan made gays & transgender(s)” as it is to vandalize private property.

What’s ironic is the unintentional side taken by the law, because of the whole Crime Stoppers offering up to $2,000 for arrest-able information.  All because someone who vehemently disagreed with the offensive message that Satan created LGBT people decided to act out in a noticeable, yet not necessarily destructive manner.

The world is a terrible place, July 2016 edition

It’s mornings like this that I dread.  Where something tragic occurs in the world, and it’s unfortunately the hot topic that the media is over.  News, is inherently mostly bad, but it’s times like when some psychopaths charge a runaway truck into a crowd particularly peaks, further justifying the notion that terrorists are shitheads, religion is lethally divisive, there are some truly evil people in the world and the world is a shitty, shitty place sometimes.

Everything becomes disgusting at times like this.  Faith in people, the idea that there are networks of terrorists out there that seemingly will never come to justice because of the idea that they’re secretly supplied by supposed allied forces in order for rich people to profit on the idea of war.  Disgust in the media that can’t stop running gruesome imagery in the name of journalism and throwing discretion and sensitivity to the wind.  Disgust that among the dead, numbers of those belonging to particular nationalities emerge, as if it’s more important that Americans, Canadians, Italians, or British people were killed amongst the French celebrating Bastille Day.

Honestly, it’s all tiresome.  It’s tiresome the alarming number of incidents like such that the entire world hears about, where people are senselessly killed for absolutely senseless reasons.  It’s tiresome to read, listen or see the aftermaths of the same songs and dances, that have been uttered so many times over the span of the last year that they’re completely losing meaning.  Thoughts and prayers aren’t fixing anything.  When is love going to triumph over all this hate?

It’s tiresome seeing the collateral effects of these incidents, like all the observations about how France gets all the solidarity and support of the world, while Istanbul is glazed over; or perhaps these fucking attacks are just happening with such frequency, that people just don’t have time to console another before the next terrorist ambush occurs?

Making rednecks happy vs. tanking Georgia

I like to use the phrase “who cares?” a lot.  Mostly amongst my closest friends, as a means of ribbing each other, to let each other know that particular topics are uninteresting, certain wrestlers or baseball players aren’t really as good as they might think they are, or as commentary towards random issues that when the day is over, aren’t really that important on a substantial scale.

But that’s really the basis of the words “who cares,” because it really does boil down the point of a lot of things in the world, that really just aren’t that important.

I don’t often discuss political matters, on my brog or in person generally, because frankly I don’t see any good out of it, in either arena.  However, it should come as no surprise that I have a tendency to lean towards a liberal way of thinking, and that I don’t have any problem when it comes to the notion of equality.  Frankly, people should be able to do what they want to do, within mostly legal parameters, including if people of the same sex want to be together.

When people come out of the closet, be them people I know, celebrities, athletes, or any other public figure, my response to such news is usually “who cares?”  Not because I harbor any malice or wish that my appearance of indifference indicates hostile feelings, but because I honestly do not believe it’s a big deal, and although many would disagree, sexual orientation isn’t an important issue to me.

If a dude wants to marry another dude, more power to them.  If a woman wants to get married to another woman, good on them.  They have as much right to live happily ever after, or come to the decision that marriage wasn’t a good idea and have to confront the uncomfortable divorce process as well.  None of it affects me in way, shape or form, so to the notion of the existence of homosexuality, I say who cares?

Black people double standards

In spite of everything I may or may not write out, I’m a fan of Chris Rock.  I have enjoyed most every one of Rock’s standups, and I think he’s a step above most other comics out there; dare I say almost on a Seinfeld-like plane in which he makes observations and turns it into material that most people can relate to, but just don’t think about, until presented in a routine.

I don’t view him as “a black comic,” but as “a comic,” and one that is funny, witty, intelligent and genuinely good at his craft.  Furthermore, as he’s aged, he’s flexed his creative wings and done some solid writing, as well as being pretty much the token A-list black guy for Adam Sandler (Tim Meadows being the B) films throughout the last few years.

But his choice of material at the Oscars, where he basically made several tasteless jokes towards Asian stereotypes, was pretty pathetic.  They reeked of strawman deflection, where Rock attempted to distract attendees and viewers away from the elephant in the room, which is the purported black boycott of the Oscars, and make wise cracks about Asians as a means to draw attention away from the elephant.

(Poorly) Veiled Earth Day bullshit

When I got to work, I noticed that the trash can around my desk had no bag inside of it when I was about to toss some garbage into it.  I looked around, and it turned out that nobody’s trash cans had any bags inside any of them.  I was perplexed by this.

It turns out that the building in which my office is located in has adopted the ever-clichéd “let’s become greener” approach that so many individuals and conglomerate entities attempt on a regular basis.  The recent passing of the latest Earth Day seemed like a convenient date in which to launch this initiative, and for all intents and purposes is effective on a permanent basis.

That’s fine with me, as I do not see any objection to trying to be somewhat more green and conservative with waste.  I don’t care for the fact that I’m not supposed to have leisurely use of my waste basket for empty coffee cups and any other trash that I would normally have tossed in there, but I can play by the rules, if everyone else is willing to.  It is a little obnoxious, but it’s certainly not the end of the world.

I have never wanted to Clothesline From Hell someone so badly in my life

Long story short: racial activists barge into busy brunch establishments on a Sunday morning to flash mob protest over the shooting of a black man by local police.

I’ll be honest, this wouldn’t have gotten under my skin if one of the places that were hit up wasn’t a place that I’d recently discovered for myself, enjoyed immensely, and would gladly go back in the future for weekend breakfast.

But it’s shit like this that absolutely baffles me, and wonders if the people who do this kind of protesting are even aware of the people that they’re protesting for?  Are they even aware of the hypocrisy they’re also perpetuating concurrently?

Case in point, this group that protested at all these restaurants this past weekend, they’re protesting over the fact that a black man was shot and killed just days earlier.  Basically declaring the incident as solely an act based on skin color, and that naturally, “black lives matter.”

lol Planet Fitness hypocrisy

Long story shortWoman signs up at a California Planet Fitness to begin light physical therapy, and is immediately flagged as intimidating and showing off after just 15 minutes of walking on a treadmill.

Real article synopsis: Woman signs up at a California Planet Fitness to begin light physical therapy, and because she was not a fat, physically incompetent blob of a human being, she is immediately flagged as a tryhard for actually exercising at the gym, and cited as someone intimidating other patrons with her toned body.

The link to this story gave no indication that Planet Fitness was involved, but I knew right away that it had to be Planet Fitness, since it hinted at people being intimidated, and only sissies and people who don’t take exercise seriously go there.  And it didn’t take long for Planet Fitness to be outed as the place where this incident occurred, naturally.  And the second I saw the name Planet Fitness, the entire rest of the story was pretty much not necessary to read, although I did, in order to piece this puzzle together.
