SSDD: Black Lives Matter organizers to protest, over an incident with the police that resulted in a black woman arrested with a broken jaw

From that much of a description, it sounds like some sort of unjust police brutality, doesn’t it?  Yeah, but that’s only part of a story where only part of the picture is painted.  Yet, the rest of the picture is basically explained, but it doesn’t change the fact that BLM still insists on conducting yet another protest.

Long story short, woman is caught by the police smoking pot with a friend.  They even admit that they were doing smoking pot.  Officers search the car and find more pot, and then decide to arrest the woman and her friend.  Woman resists arrest, wrenches back and slugs an officer in the face.  Officer then responds to force with force, slugs the woman, and completes the arrest.

Oh, why not one more?

Because that’s a great idea: The Atlanta Hawks’ new developmental team, to get, wait for it . . . wait for it . . . a new stadium!

Everything about this is a bad idea.  For starters, the NBA is a joke of an organization, bastardizing a pure game with hip-hop, flash and no substance, and the repeated degradation of a sport enjoyed all across the world.  But to swindle taxpayers into creating an arena nobody wants for a D-league team??  Now that’s just some bull shit, if I’ve ever heard it in my life.

The D-league isn’t like minor league baseball; contrary to what the NBA wants people to believe.  People end up in the D-league, because they’re simply not good enough to make it into the NBA, and the D-league is more or less a holding cell for mediocre players, with organizations hoping the cream of the crop will rise, into becoming a useful backup player for the big squads.

Only in the NFL: Darren Sharper nominated for the NFL Hall of Fame; the same Darren Sharper who is currently in prison on an 18-year sentence for having drugged and raped upwards of 16 women

This wasn’t the screengrab I really wanted for this post, but apparently in the 21st century, replay footage of Sportscenter is seemingly impossible despite being a digital medium.  But this screen grab is close enough to what I saw on television, laughable at its absurdity that it’s actually true: a convicted rapist has been nominated to the “hallowed” football Hall of Fame.

No doubt, he won’t make it, regardless of his statistics and his participation in the Saints’ Super Bowl win in 2010.  But the fact of the matter is that someone, who will in all likelihood remain anonymous because they don’t want to be outed as an imbecile for nominating a convicted felon, actually looked at the ballot in front of them, saw Darren Sharper’s name and thought “yeah, that’s a Hall of Famer.”

Two wrongs don’t make right: Hoodlums break into truck to steal a laptop, inadvertently rescue German Shepard left in truck with windows up

When the day is over, all parties involved are shitheads.

I’m trying to weigh in my head which is the worse infraction, and I’m definitely leaning towards the asshole truck owner who left his poor German Shepard in the car with the windows up in the middle of summer.

Breaking and entering and theft aren’t cool at all, and it makes my blood boil just thinking about when some thugs broke into my own house while I was home, but these thugs ultimately weren’t trying to hurt anyone, just steal.  But deliberately leaving a dog in a vehicle in the middle of the summer with the windows closed is basically attempting homicide, in a manner of speaking.  Whether it was a dog or any other living creature, actual life was at stake on the choices of the truck owner, and for that reason, he’s the bigger piece of shit in this story.

Bloomberg: The Braves Play Taxpayers Better Than They Play Baseball

For all the words I’ve spent talking about how the Atlanta Braves are a bunch of money-grubbing immoral crooks in regards to the covert planning and execution of the construction of ScumTrust Park, I’ve neglected the other branches of the Braves organization, namely the minor leagues.  And despite the fact that I far prefer minor league ball over the trash at the major league level, as far as the Braves are concerned, it turns out that they’re no less despicable in other towns too.

Now I knew about the swindling of the people done in Lawrenceville, when it came to bringing the Triple-A Braves to Gwinnett, since I know people who live up there, who don’t like baseball, who are less than impressed with the idea of having to pony up extra pennies on their daily purchases, to finance a ballpark.

However, it turns out that both the Low-A Rome Braves and the Double-A Mississippi Braves are also instances where the Braves moved teams to their current homes, after basically strong-arming their previous residences, giving them a tiny window to meet gargantuan demands, and when they predictably fail, pulling the teams and moving them to towns that had been prearranged to build ballparks at the cost of taxpayers, with hopeless promises of local financial stimulation, and a benefit to all parties, but then failed and saddled debts on the public, while the Braves and conspirators are last money in, first money out.

Oh, Mets fans

Why you so dumb?  Accused wife beater, Jose Reyes, given standing ovation and warm reception by fans at Citi Field in his first game back with the Mets.

Don’t get me wrong, I understand fully why there are Mets fans that love Jose Reyes.  Between 2006-2012, he was easily the most frighteningly good shortstop in the game.  He hit .300 from both sides of the plate, he was always a threat for extra-bases, and if he got on base, stolen bases weren’t a threat, they were expected.  His speed was unmatched, and his range at shortstop was maddening as an opposing fan, when Reyes managed to somehow be absolutely anywhere the ball was hit.

Jose Reyes was unmistakably the most exciting player in baseball for a great part of his time with the Mets.  It’s easily understandable why Mets fans loved, and still have positive connotations with him.

However it’s been a long time since 2012, when Jose Reyes won the batting title while on the Mets, before proclaiming his love for New York and then immediately signed a deal with the Miami Marlins, took his talents to South Beach, got traded to Toronto before getting traded to Colorado.  Along that journey, he (allegedly but really did) beat the shit out of his wife in Hawaii, which ultimately led to him getting suspended by Major League Baseball, and cut by the Rockies. And since the Mets have no faith in crybaby Wilmer Flores and are reliant on Asdrubal Cabrera to play shortstop, and David Wright hasn’t been close to healthy since 2014, they decided to bring the prodigal son back to where his career started.

Still shunning social

It’s been nearly two full months since I stopped checking Facebook.  It’s also been about that long that my brog’s been down, keeping me anxious and feeling voiceless when it comes to routine and a simple enjoyment, but that’s a different story.

I’ve learned that Facebook notifications caps at 99, based on the periodic emails I get letting me know that I’ve got 99 notifications since the last time I’ve been on Facebook, and the number is no longer climbing.

In that time, I’ve more or less lost touch with people, as I don’t know what exciting or mundane things that are going on in the lives of the 140+ internet personas that Facebook deems as friends.  Birthdays have come and gone, and the odd random “so-and-so has posted” emails keep me in the loop that people are in fact gabbing away.

There are a few group conversations going on that I’m aware are happening because Facebook notifies me that they’re happening over email, but out of not wanting to break my chain, not because I’m (entirely) antisocial, I’m blind to them.  I haven’t seen any photos or any posts that have me tagged, because I’m a hipster and obtuse.

The thing is, I’ve been mulling over in my head when it is that I want to come back.  I’m enjoying the freedom of ambivalence, and the time I’m not wasting both literally and the time spent thinking about the things people post, because I’m not checking Facebook repeatedly.  I’ve read lots of books, watched some television and movies, did a lot of writing for a brog that I have no idea when will ever be back up and been on two trips so far.  I’m not saying that none of those things would’ve have happened if I’d still been engaged on Facebook, but I did have the luxury of being fairly clear-minded and undistracted by potential distractions.
