Geek chicks are overrated

Tonight, I went to trivia with some friends, and had a good time.  Up until the last question, we were a point behind the leader, and lost due to the simple fact that I couldn’t remember the name “Agatha Christie.”  But I was certainly pleased and impressed with the wealth of random knowledge that our team was capable of knowing, and I’m pretty sure that we could win one of these days in the future if this were to become a legitimate reoccurring thing.

But anyway, this trivia was held at none other than a fairly obvious nerd hangout; the same place where I enjoyed a birthday party just days prior, filled with large TVs for people to play console games on, which kind of makes me question the legality, as well as several stations for people to play PC games, but most importantly, an impressive set up of Rockband for people to channel their inner rock stars.  All this in place, and the simple fact that I’m a notorious people-watcher, I’m watching the people come and go, play trivia and drink boozahol.  Naturally, this means I’m checking out the girls in the place, because that is what I do, being the sometimes-ronery, single male that is sort of thinking about the importance and desire to one day settle down.

Photos: Well, a lot of them

Most recently, it’s a bunch of drunken photos taken from Brad and Stuart’s birthday party, where there was lots of Rockband, Street Fighter, and watching Korean guys propagate stereotypes by doing nothing but playing Tekken and World of Warcraft.

But I’ve been lagging behind, so there are several other photo albums of pictures that most people not me probably wouldn’t care about, meaning baseball, that I’ve caught up with.  But I’ll let those who are possibly interested to check for themselves.

Otherwise, things have been a little below-average, overall.  Repeated visits to the hospital, seeking work, sometimes going to Dykeland, watching the Braves suck, and playing Left 4 Dead.  Haven’t been thinking a whole lot of what to write these days, and I’d like to rectify that.

One of these days . . .

WOULD YOU EAT THIS FOR FULL HEALTH?  Because nothing says rejuvenation like a steaming plate of chicken found underneath a waste receptacle, not to mention, defying the laws of physics to not be flat as a pancake.

This will go on the growing list of “to-do” projects, such as finishing up my 2009 Nanowrimo story, among other things, but one of these days, I’d love to take a stab at sprite-editing, and hacking up a ROM of Final Fight.

I have nothing left to prove

As it pertains to Resident Evil 5, I have pretty much done it all now.  Earlier today, I did what I thought was the impossible, and I conquered Desperate Escape on Professional difficulty, and I now have all 60 out of 60 available XBOX achievements.  The S ranking is a little bit of a surprise, considering I figured I would be tanked by the great length of time I took to complete the mission, but apparently, my impeccable accuracy, the fact that I killed everything I could out of necessity and not for fun, and racked up a godly amount of bonus stars was enough for me to round out the 400 times I was killed, and the total 2:30:58 time needed to finish.

Rebecca Chambers gets Straight A’s

Now this is netbook territory – brogging from inside of a Cuban restaurant while munching on a tasty Cubano.

One of the benefits of the latest Resident Evil 5 updates was the mini game known as Mercenaries: Reunion.  It’s all the same levels as in the regular Mercenaries, but this time, they’ve added several new character.  Funny that they should call it “Reunion” though, since out of the eight playable characters, only two are truly “being reunited,” coming from an earlier RE game.
