The scariest sound in the entire world

Seriously, I don’t think I could ever eat another Gummi Bear in my entire life under good conscience.

What the fuck did the Gummi Bear do to you???

On another programming note: Brogging will be sporadic and likely minimal this month. There will probably be a lot of pre-written and scheduled posts. I will be once again partaking in Nanowrimo this year after a hiatus for a year. Although there will be travels and distractions, I will strive to reach my 50,000 word mark again this year. If you’re interested in being “buddies,” I simply go under the name “cyberlobster.”

There will be blurbs until the free time returns

Apparently, I don’t have nearly as much free time as I think I do.  To me, this is not really a bad thing, as being busy is better than being bored.  I’ve got a large backlog of photos and words to catch up to, and between work, going to baseball games, family shit, and a subsequent impromptu trip up to Virginia this weekend ahead, I will not be able to get to them.  So until I can play catch up, I will relegate to brogging random blurbs until I do catch up.

After picking up my friends and indulging in some Gladys Knight chicken & waffles during the start of Wrestlemania weekend, while walking down Peachtree Street, I spotted WWE superstar, Kane.  He literally passed by me coming out of the Peachtree Center, and despite me recognizing him, Huzzard didn’t believe me, thinking he should be taller.  We caught up to him while he was stopped by other wrestling nerds who happened to recognize him as well, and I got to take this picture with him.  Not pictured: white plastic bag with probably something relatively healthy in it.  Or Manchu Wok.

Nerds like me, who are interested in behind-the-scenes wrestling hierarchy knows that Kane is among the most well-respected wrestlers today, among fans and peers.  Having met Kane myself now, and especially in comparison to guys like Stone Cold Steve Austin, Kane is easily one of the nicest.  Not bad for a guy who’s character has been involved in storylines involving necrophilia, knocking up Lita, and once needing to speak with the aid of a tracheotomy speaking valve.

A little bit of reality

I seldom write about my family.  It’s not that it’s because I don’t love them or anything, because that couldn’t be any further from the truth.  I don’t really know why I don’t, it’s not like their lives aren’t mind-numbingly boring either.  It’s just, I don’t really write about my family.  I suppose my family life is something I’d rather keep out of my writing, and that there are more interesting or attempted humorous things to write about instead.

To cut to the chase, and what’s been ill-timely, eating at my mind for the last few days is that my parents are debating on separating.  An actual legal divorce is probably unlikely, since neither of them would genuinely want to engage in the very American act of having to go through the work to make it happen when instead, my dad could just simply move out.

I’d like to think that as I near 30, news like this would be a bit easier to digest than at a volatile teenager’s age, but I’m finding out witnessing my own emotions and thoughts, that it’s still not any less thrilling.  I suppose I can rationalize both parties better than if I were a kid, and I won’t be trying to blame myself for anything, but I’m still feeling a bit upset by the circumstances.

One Year.

365 days ago, I officially moved totfc.net into a WordPress blog format. The main reasoning behind the move was that I felt that I was losing touch with my writing, mostly because the process was redundant and had become arduous, and I felt some obligation to make long and thoughtful posts in order to get my point across.  When it felt like it was becoming a chore, I knew change was essential in order to restore order to my enjoyment of writing.  A year ago, a new beginning, began.

2001 posts: 74 (not full year, either)
2002 posts: 81
2003 posts: 75
2004 posts: 73
2005 posts: 41
2006 posts: 55
2007 posts: 34
2008 posts: 19
2009 posts: 28

As you can see, as the years passed, so did my desire to really post anything to the old site.  In the span of the last 365 days, I have posted to my new brog 225 times, effectively more than the last five years combined. Granted, the depth, quality, and integrity of the last year’s posts might not be nearly as “meaty” as some of my previous years’ posts, but I can say without much question, that over the last year, writing hasn’t felt a chore to me anymore, which is a wonderful feeling.

It’s not necessarily how much I’ve posted that’s refreshing, but also the means in which I’ve posted.  I’ve made posts from seven different states, three different time zones, from my PC, various work computers, my old laptop, my Android phone, and most frequently, my trusty netbook.  Post contents have been heartfelt and thoughtful, sometimes just a link that amuses me, or random pictures from when I have been traveling on my baseball trips.  Some have been negative in connotation, with me pouring my ronery heart out, or fuming over my inability to secure a real job.  But all of it has been relatively close to the moment, and a more accurate reflection of my actual emotions and thoughts, as opposed to me having time to stew and think things through, and deliberate my choice of words when I had the time at home to do so.  When something crosses my mind that seems worthy to write about, I literally have the means to essentially get it down, just about almost anywhere.  Even if it’s not worthy, I can brog my heart out too.

Needless to say, switching my website to a WordPress brog was the best decision I made last year.  Writing means a lot to me, and when it began to take over my particular presence on the intertubes, it only made sense to adapt my online real estate to accommodate such outlet.  With one year in the books, I’m hoping to keep this going and I realize at this point, I’ve pretty much been doing this for the last decade, which is kind of surreal, knowing that I’ve got quite a bit of personal writing up online for that long.

It’s been a long time coming

The last time I overhauled my website in its entirety would have to have been back in like 2003 or 2004. Either way, it’s been a long, long time since there’s been any significant change over in my corner of the intertubes, but as of today, change has finally come. Considering my old website began to really be nothing more than a place to house my writings and photos, instead of the myriad of random nerdy content, it got to a point where I wanted to simplify things, mainly the wring aspect of it.

Throughout the last nine years, the process of posting grew more and more tedious, to the point where it actually began to affect whether or not I would take the time to write at all, which for someone like me, is unacceptable. I noticed how the number of posts I made each year from 2001 through 2009 dwindled a little bit more yearly, to where I began to make bad jokes about how posting became a monthly thing. I really do enjoy writing, but I’m also not a fan of wasted time, which I was growing to feel that the task of getting something posted was becoming to be.  So, to alleviate those woes, I’ve moved on, to a WordPress, to make writing and posting a lot simpler in coming days.

Things might look different, but there’s really not going to be a whole lot different than how things were before this change.  I’m still the same sports, video games, and zombie-loving hypocrite, with all the same personality hangups and tendency to write too more than what is necessary once I get going.
