Another November, another 50,000 words

With two days to spare, I crossed the 50,000 word threshold for the sixth time.  If I dedicate enough to even start, I refuse to fail; I have not, not succeeded to hit 50,000 in the six times that I’ve tried this.

The Siffee Food Chain is a story that was meant to lampoon the SyFy Channel’s endless parade of “combo-monster-animal” movies, but somewhere along the line, an actual story actually began to emerge as I was writing about the adventures of Megashark, Sharktopus, Velocipython, Supergator, Dinocroc and Megaraptor.  About how mankind’s inherent desire to constantly play God eventually digs themselves deeper and deeper into the rabbit hole as their creations constantly end up going rogue, and bigger, badder creations are necessary to combat the old evils, until they too eventually revolt.

Yes, the premise of my story this year was absolutely putrid crap, but that hasn’t been the reason I’ve been doing this, and I don’t think has been since the first time I ever tried it.  As someone who really likes to write a lot, it’s always a fairly interesting experiment whenever I embark on Nanowrimo, because in the effort to put 50,000+ words together, you really are enlightened to what your current vernacular really is like.  The kinds of words you fall back onto, the choices of adjectives and verbs, and how you get around to explaining and writing situations without sounding too repetitive.  It also really makes you realize that your wealth of word choices may or may not be as diverse and expansive as you may or may not have thought it was.

No matter, another November, another successful 50,000-word adventure.  Needless to say, I always feel a good bit of relief and a weight lifted off my shoulders when I finish, because now I can get back to brogging about nonsensical crap instead of writing about mythical fake monsters.  The ironic thing is that I honestly think this would have a possibility of being greenlit by the SyFy network.

Thoughts on Silent Hill: Revelations

The chick who played Heather was really cute, and totally in my wheelhouse.  Even if she looks like she’s half my age.

But the movie itself sucked, and it wasn’t a surprise, and I am disappointed that it cost me $16 to see in 3D.

The end.

Okay, now that the thoughts on Silent Hill: Revelations are over, don’t click the jump unless you want to hear spoilers; not that they’re really “spoilers-“spoilers, but if you’re sensitive to being told something that happens before you find out, don’t read on.

Thoughts on Girl Meets World

I don’t hide the fact that I was… am a fan of the old sitcom, Boy Meets World.  Recently, there’s been news circulating that a spin-off show is being created “cleverly” named Girl Meets World.  With the basic premise is that it’s going to be the same show pretty much all over again, except instead of the protagonist of the showing being Corey Matthews, it’s going to be a girl.

But get this, not just any girl – it’s going to be Riley Matthews, the purported daughter of Corey and Topanga, who got married at the tail end of the Boy Meets World, and have clearly gotten busy since the show ended.  I don’t really know quite how to feel about this.

I had no idea that this ever happened

I can comfortably say that I watched a lot of The Wonder Years when I was younger. I thought I pretty much saw every single episode. Either I really hadn’t, I really don’t remember everything as vividly as I thought I did, or maybe both.

Seeing Kevin Arnold get cockblocked or fuck up with girls is nothing out of the ordinary throughout the entire course of the show, but there’s absolutely no coming back from this one.

Not only does Kevin Arnold get cockblocked, but he gets cockblocked by none other than fucking Zack Morris. I had no idea that Mark-Paul Gosselar ever had an appearance in The Wonder Years. And to no surprise, Zack Morris absolutely dominates in his brief cameo in The Wonder Years. Not only does he look like he’s six years older then Kevin Arnold, but he just straight nuclear cockblocks Kevin Arnold, right in front of him. That’s some gutsy shit right there.

Peggy Bundy has aged very well

When Seth Green mentioned Katey Segal during Comedy Central’s Roseanne Roast, and the camera panned over to this voluptuous woman, my first thought was “holy shit, that’s Peggy Bundy?

Growing up as a dedicated Married With Children fan, I never really thought Peggy Bundy was at all that attractive.  I mean I get it, there she was with her bouffant hair and her stretch pants and high heels always accentuating her large bust and shapely figure, but it never did it for me.  I don’t think it really was meant to do it for most guys.  But I could see how some might find the physical features appealing.  I never did.  Maybe it’s because of the successful development of a character that’s supposed to be the ultimate boner-killer that did it for me, but for all intents and purposes, I never found Peggy Bundy that attractive.

However seeing Katey Segal now, 15 years after the last episode of Married With Children aired, I’m kind of like whoa.

To cut to the chase, she’s in total alpha-cougar territory now.  Sleek dark hair instead of the trademark Peggy Bundy bouffant red hair, and the sexy librarian glasses, and a dress that accentuates the obvious fact that she has a rockin’ body and a nice rack.  I don’t really care if she’s had any work done or not, the fact of the matter is that she looks downright hot, today.

Comparing women from obscure TV ads

Ever since I discovered the existence of Who Is That Hot Ad Girl, I’ve been able to fairly reliably track down most all of the random attractive women I see on television, who are schilling whatever they’re paid to schill in order to make ends meet on their ends. It’s easily one of my favorite sites, and it’s helped give me some idea of what I’ll be writing about today.

90% of the TV ads I see are typically while I’m running on the hamster wheel at the gym, or when I’m watching baseball. Pretty much everything else I watch is usually DVR’d, and I’m skipping through the commercials with relative ease. But in the cases of the gym and live baseball, I do not have that luxury, so I’m occasionally exposed to seeing commercials. But in some cases, like the particular ads I’ll point out, I couldn’t really care less of what is being advertised, because I’m too busy noticing the attractive women they have speaking on behalf of the services being advertised.

Despite the fact that I find all three of these women appealing, I can’t really say the reasons are that similar in each case. I guess what this boils down to do is that it’s a glimpse of what I find appealing to my aesthetics or how my mind kind of processes what I see in girls.

Americas untamed, indeed

I really enjoy nature television shows. When I saw promos for National Geographic’s Untamed Americas series, I immediately set a DVR timer for it.

Overall, I think the four-episode series was a little on the weak side, but I get the impression that their field crew got a handful of amazing video and shots, that series like this are created, so they could have a place to showcase them. For every amazing footage of a spirit bear or an owl, there are usually clips of wolves or cougars and other predators failing at capturing their prey.

But if there was one thing that genuinely stuck with me watching the series, it would have to be this fox somewhere in the arctic.
