What is this, Great Britain?  MARTA to test double-decker buses for the summer.

I’ve often had this curiosity with buses.  Before the company went kaput, I was intrigued by the idea of riding the Fung-Wah Bus, because you can’t say you’ve really lived life unless it’s been in danger once in a while.  When the opportunity to ride a MegaBus presented itself, I remember being quite intrigued and kind of excited, instead of the dread at having to settle for the lowest common denominator to get to Point B, like everyone else’s faces were saying when waiting to board it.

I have never ridden a MARTA bus, once.  I don’t really plan on doing so, if I can ever help it.  As an Atlanta motorist, MARTA buses are a pestilence on the streets, with their drivers having no regard for other life on the road, and almost live to solely troll other drivers.  I very much dislike MARTA buses, and wish to never ride one.

This is an example of what’s wrong with Atlanta

TL:DR: City of Johns Creek votes “full and complete opposition” to MARTA expansion into its city limits.

Johns Creek is often lost in the shuffle when it comes to the affluent, predominantly-white regions of the outskirts of Metro Atlanta.  However, much like Roswell and Alpharetta, Johns Creek is the oft-overlooked third member of the north Fulton “Milton” county region, that likes to stir the pot and raise controversy every few years about how they want to secede and become their own county, and not be lumped in with the rest of Fulton county AKA “where all the black people live.”

Make no mistake, when it comes to demographics, atmosphere, and sense of entitlement, Johns Creek is sparsely different than its neighbors in Roswell and Alpharetta.

Except when it comes to the acceptance of MARTA, and the stigma that comes along with MARTA.

lol MARTA #226

Long story short: dumbass who works for MARTA sends personal information of 785 employees to incorrect recipients, such as dates of births and social security numbers.

I love how the article cites terms such as “data breach,” “mechanical malfunction” and “equipment malfunction” to describe what’s basically some idiot not being mindful of the recipient field in what was probably just email.

Furthermore, I’m more surprised that MARTA actually has 785 employees.  Based on the perpetual tardiness of trains, buses, and the sheer lack of visible security, maintenance and workers throughout the entire company, I’d have guessed MARTA had more like, 85 employees in total.  Then again, the other 700 are probably the sock puppet names on payroll to cash checks and leech the city of money to line their pockets, but I digress.

I give it two days, if not already

Impetus: MARTA introduces hi-tech “public bathroom of the future” at Lindbergh Center station. It is allegedly vandalism-proof, loiter-proof, digitally monitored in a variety of manners, and basically gives users pretty much nothing to do but do their business and leave. Hopes are that it becomes successful, and sets the standard for public restrooms to be implemented in transit stations all across the world.

Bahahahahahahahaha. MARTA.

Bahahahahaha.

Okay, now that that’s out of the way; it’s like I could switch my brog to feature absolutely nothing but stories about MARTA, and I could probably make like three posts a day for the next year or so.

lol MARTA #212

Atlanta Magazine asks: Can MARTA be cool?

Of course not.  That’s like asking if pigs could fly, or if Battletoads were easy, the answers are very easy, without hesitation nos.

Regardless, the question is brought up, because that is apparently one of the hopes and dreams of the man in charge of MARTA, general manager Keith Parker.

Now I’ll admit that I was one of the first people to doubt that Parker would actually accomplish anything with MARTA, considering the joke of an organization and service that it is, but in all fairness, he has made a little bit of headway with what seemed like pushing Sisyphus’s boulder up the mountain.  Supposedly, according to Atlanta Magazine, revenue has gone up, crime has gone down, and service has expanded; albeit to ghetto-ass Clayton County, but baby steps.

It’s good to know who to blame when these are all over MARTA

Introducing JAMBANZ.  50% slap bracelet, 50% Bluetooth speaker.  100% bullshit.  Made in Atlanta.

Dad here kind of misses the point of earbuds and headphones.  They exist so that people can privately listen to their music without disturbing other people.  And under the guise of safety and awareness, he basically creates something completely counterproductive to the idea of private audio enjoyment.

All the time, we hear about how bicycles are vehicles too, and they have the same rights to the road as people in cars do.  Well for people in cars, it’s technically illegal to have earbuds on while driving, so why shouldn’t the same apply to those riding bicycles, regardless of their age?  If Dad doesn’t want his daughter or her friend getting run over, perhaps they shouldn’t be wearing earbuds while riding their bicycles in the first place.

lol MARTA #212

Brief: MARTA rejects Clayton County’s offer to incorporate a 0.5¢ county-wide tax increase in order to bring MARTA buses down into Clayton County.

Translation: Despite the fact that MARTA is a sham of a transit authority and a company in the first place, even they don’t want to get themselves involved with Clayton County.

Man, as much as I rag on MARTA, in the end it must really suck to be Clayton County.

In the end, this has everything to do with money, because as it stands now, the other counties have a 1¢ tax in place to help fund having MARTA in the first place.  The speculation is that MARTA wants them to pay a full penny just like everyone else, and now the ball is back in Clayton County’s court to see if they’re willing to go along with it.
