Go figure

The most epic comeback ever happened tonight, and I didn’t watch a single second of the game. But in a way, it kind of fell according to plan, because frankly, the Braves have a pretty decent track record when I don’t miss the game it seems, and this is the second time this season the Braves have come back from at least an eight-run deficit and managed to win, with me missing the entire thing in the process.

Monetary prizes on television have sure taken a hit these days

Lately, I’ve caught a few episodes of various reality contest shows, such as Sweet Genius and Craft Wars. Yeah, I know how gay that sounds, but if they’re on television, often times I stay on the channels and watch.  Sweet Genius is interesting, because I do find amusement in cooking shows, and being a glutton there is appeal in it.

As for Craft Wars, I think the show is putrid, Tori Spelling is still a talentless slug, and I find it ironic that not only was she terrible at acting, she’s apparently found a way to be terrible at portraying reality, too.  And the show’s judges completely miss the point of the show entirely and judge based on the criteria polished, finalized projects for shit thrown together in 1-4 hours, when they’re not making catty gay remarks towards each other.  Needless to say, my relationship with Craft Wars is one of those “it’s such a shitty show and makes me irritated, that I tune in to grill it while acknowledging that I’m giving them the attention I shouldn’t be.

You heard it here first

I’ve been watching America’s Got Talent this season, because I’m a Howard Stern fan, and it’s been kind of unavoidable. But anyway, the people in the photograph are “Eric & Olivia,” a music duo with Eric on guitar, and Olivia doing vocals.  To their credit, I liked their act, and I think Olivia is definitely a pleasant singer, and I find her to be quite beautiful.  But the operative word in that statement is “act,” because I think that’s precisely what’s going on here.

I saw something amazing today

Today, for the first time in about 25 consecutive episodes, the bitch was excused.

I am indeed, talking about the campy reality dating show, Excused.  Since I’ve now refused to watch NFL Network Ocho AKA ESPN any further, my options at the gym are kind of limited.  Atlanta news is always depressing, because it’s the same daily song and dance of some shooting in some black neighborhood, and a bunch of crime and death in the Metro area.  So by default, it’s tuning into Peachtree TV, and waiting for Black Family Feud to begin, which always ends up being the last five minutes of Excused.

I won’t sugar coat it either, it’s because of this show that know who Iliza Shlesinger is; even if she speaks from one side of her face as if she had a stroke at some point in her life, I find her breasts to be exquisite, and I think she’s a sharp-witted comic, great at grilling the contestants on the show.  But anyway, I’ve been seeing the end of every episode for the better parts of the last two months, and without fail, I have never seen a woman contestant get the ultimate screw-job and get ditched at the pool at the very end of the “contest.” That is, until today.  It was very gratifying to see happen, because bitches are rotten people too, and it is small proof, that some men, actually do have standards too.

I’m guessing Stephanie’s the Tanner with the Hyundai

This Victorian with the black door and the red brick staircase is the actual Tanner family home from Full House. The door isn’t red like in the show, but make no mistake, this is the actual home.  It is referenced in no fewer than five websites that I’ve cross-referenced to verify this address.

It makes me wonder if the blue Hyundai Tiburon belongs to anyone who lives in the home.  The answer is questionable, because as I discovered for myself, finding parking anywhere in this part of San Francisco is nigh impossible at times, and I too had to park about three blocks away and risk ticket and towing in order to find the time to get on foot and find the Full House house.

It probably isn’t, since I’d imagine the resident(s) of the home actually using the driveway for their car, but for the sake of making a good joke, it’s fun to imagine that it is.

My first assumption is that it has to belong to Stephanie, because after her meth bender, what the fuck has she done to manage to afford anything outside of the old Hyundai class?  But then I realize that Candice Cameron hasn’t exactly set the world on fire either, and that big brother Bible-thumping Kirk has probably had a more successful career in the longer haul.

Mass Effect romances, explained by Saved by the Bell

Throughout playing the Mass Effect series, one of the more intriguing side objectives is pursuing a relationship. Each of the three games gives you choices for your Commander Shepards to pursue, and depending on if you import your data from one game to the other, it mildly alters the relationship paths, based on your choices from ME1 to ME2 to ME3. Which is one of the only things you really can alter, to say the least. Oops; did I write that out loud?

Anyway, with the number of possible relationships available throughout the series, it got me thinking. Which is never a good thing, because then we end up with the conclusion that Commander Shepard is pretty much the futuristic Zack Morris of the galaxy. And that all possible relationships throughout the Mass Effect series, are easily relatable to all of the girls that Zack Morris was involved with at some point throughout the entire Saved by the Bell series.

Naturally, since I’ve only played as the male Shepard, we’re only going to go through his potential conquests. Suffice to say, these are probably classified as spoilers if you haven’t played through all three games yet.

It should really have been called “Boy Meets World Through his Fuck-up Best Friend”

Over the last few months, I’ve been watching a lot Boy Meets World reruns.  It’s on in the mornings in that time I’m preparing for the day and eating breakfast, and those few minutes before I leave for work.  It was a show I enjoyed a lot while growing up, when it occupied the 9:00 p.m. slot of TGIF, and it’s admittedly a trip down memory lane, watching it on most weekday mornings.

But watching it through my old-as-shit grownup eyes now, it’s so obvious of what the dynamic of the show really was.  It was never so much of the life and development of the main character, Cory Matthews through his own actions, as much as it was Cory and everyone else learning, living and understanding life by means of best friend Shawn Hunter’s constant fuckups.  Pretty much all of the adversity of the Cory character stems from girls and school.  All other conflicts throughout the series are funneled through Shawn’s character, and it’s up to Cory, his family and Mr. Feeny to guide him through all these life’s roadblocks, and where they can all learn and grown through his parade of failure.
