Somebody call my mama, these legs are registered weapons

That’s right. Two-time! Two-time! Zombie run winnar!

So while I nurse my sore limbs and achy body parts, let me reminisce about the Atlanta chapter of the zombie run. Despite my trepidations going into the event, I can pretty easily say that I had a good of time as I did in Maryland, despite my reluctance up there too. If anything, I would venture to say that it was more fun than the first, for a myriad of reasoning.

Without much argument, the Atlanta zombie run was executed a million times better than the Maryland one. Granted, the Maryland zombie run back in October had the dubious task of being the inaugural event in which the bar was set, and all its failures and successes were what all the other chapters were to build off of, but the parking debacle and the tedious shuttling really, really hurt it badly. Whether it was superior planning or luck of the draw, Georgia’s venue for the event was far superior in the fact that there was plenty of on-site parking and no shuttles were necessary, and the local police appeared to be in cooperation and ready to deal with the traffic jams that never happened, probably because of the tornadoes or threat of them that ripped through the state the night before.

This is Ahri before Ahri was cool

Ahri is a character from the online arena game, League of Legends.  She’s based loosely on an Asian mythical nine-tailed fox, that depending on which country you’re asking, has variations on its story.  Most of them depict the nine-tailed fox as an evil creature, mostly utilizing deception, trickery, and/or seduction to commit its evil deeds.  But since the design of the character is so leaning towards Korean in appearance and clothing, I’m lead to the belief that it’s a Korean iteration, the character is loosely based around.

I have this book of translated Korean fairy tales, that a cousin got for my sister when I was young that I somehow came to inherit.  It’s full of entertaining stories and a glimpse of culture differences, but one of the stories dealt with the nine-tailed fox.  And as is the case with most stories involving the nine-tailed fox, it’s evil, and it’s out to kill shit.  But the origins are essentially the same; girl is killed by the nine-tailed fox, nine-tailed fox takes the form of the girl, starts wrecking shit up.  In this story, Ahri kills horses and eats their livers, before killing her parents eventually.  Her brother is eventually the one who kills her, and in the aftermath the true form of a corpse of a fox with nine tails is discovered.

But the above imagery is a stark contrast to the sexified Ahri that’s available to play in LoL today.

A confusion of imitation/infringement

So before I came up to Aberdeen prior to the zombie run, I scoured the interwebs for potential things to do, places to see and of course, things to eat. Among the pursuit of unique dining, this story came across. Long story short, popular In-N-Out is suing obscure Aberdeen’s Grab-N-Go for too closely copying their style; as in their logo it too similar, and their menu is also too similar. Considering the fact that In-N-Out’s menu consists of burgers, fries and soda, that’s not particularly difficult for any hamburger restaurant to accomplish.

Anyway, suing Grab-N-Go was probably the biggest favor that In-N-Out could have possibly done, because it has put Grab-N-Go on the map, and inquisitive people like me end up really wanting to visit.

Now look back to the image above: I’ll give In-N-Out the logo, because it really is kind of reminiscent of theirs, with the circle, and the format of the text and the positioning of its sub lines.

“I hate 350Z”

Quite the interesting vanity plate on an Infiniti G35 coupe.  Y’see, the Infiniti G35 coupe and the Nissan 350Z are essentially, the exact same car.  Strip the body panels, and all the superficial seating, and accessories, down to the naked body, skeleton, and heart, and you’ve got an identical chassis and motor.

Infiniti G35 Coupe Nissan 350Z
Drivetrain Front-engine, rear drive Front-engine, rear drive
Platform Nissan FM Nissan FM
Engine VQ35 VQ35
Displacement 3.5 liter V6 3.5 liter V6
HP/Torque 306/268 306/268

I admit there is a little bit of cherry picking involved in these statistics, but come on, chassis, engine, power – these are some pretty key components to an automobile. The point remains that aside from the body panels and car’s design, which are kind of similar in shape, the two cars are the same thing.

Why the driver of this G35 hates 350Zs is completely beyond me.

Or perhaps they’re really that stupid?  Probably.

Ruining the classics

A long time ago, I used to really like Looney Toons. When my family first acquired cable when I was in the third grade, Looney Toons was almost literally, always on television. The TNT network was still very raw in those days, and they compensated for their lack of programming by having gigantic blocks of Looney Toons at almost all hours of the day. Before I left the house to go to the bus stop, I could watch some Bugs Bunny. The time in between returning from school and being forced to go piano lessons or Tae Kwon Do, there was more Looney Toons. In the evening, or on those nights where I couldn’t sleep, all I had to do was turn it to channel 100, and sure as shit, there would be some Looney Toons. Needless to say, I really liked Looney Toons.

Recently, I discovered that Cartoon Network has essentially created a new Looney Toons, and is currently in circulation. I won’t attest to making a conscious effort to check out this new show, as my television activities are pretty limited to baseball, wrestling, and sometimes Top Gear, but I did catch a few episodes in recent weeks.

Professional wrestling has taught me that adding “New” to anything is pretty much condemning it to suck. That being said, Cartoon Network’s New Looney Toons fucking sucks.

A brilliant analogy if I must say so myself

You know when you’re watching an episode of Deal or No Deal, and 99% of the time, the contestant will lose out on the $1,000,000, somewhere in the middle of the show?  The music gets that epic tone, and everyone face palms, and Howie Mandel goes “ohhhhh,” but then the show goes on just fine, because the case with $750,000 is still left, and that’s still a lot of money to potentially win.  But then ultimately, they’ll say “no deal,” one too many times, and not only will most of the time, they lose out on the $750,000, the $500,000, the $250,000, etc, etc, and before we know it, they’re desperately clawing at the opportunity that they can win about as much money as they would if they won a regular episode of Wheel of Fortune.  But it’s still okay, because even $25,000 is still a really nice chunk of change to win, especially for no other skill than when to say “yes.”

The situation I’m in right now is a lot like this.  But instead, the banker is dead, so there are no tempting compromises for me to possibly cash out with, and every single case above $25 has already been eliminated.  At this point, I’m literally playing for $5 or $0.05, but it doesn’t matter which one I ultimately end up with, because I’ve still really just lost the game anyway, but it’s still gotta be played for the sake of finality.

I thought this year was supposed to be better than the last year.  Even with the start of the baseball season, I can’t help but feel like garbage on a fairly regular basis, and my head’s most certainly not in the right places lately.  Call me crazy, but there are parts of me that would rather be enduring the uncertain stress of not know when my next paycheck is coming, as opposed to some of the shit I’m dealing with right now.  April is supposed to be my month, and it’s definitely not the case right now, and I’m resenting my parents for it.  I don’t really want to go to Virginia this weekend, but I’m going anyway.  Family deals with bullshit head on, not over any fucking phones.

Bad Movie Review: King of the Fighters: The Legend of Mai Shiranui (2010)

I tend to fall behind movie releases very easily, so when I get really bored, I literally comb through individual weeks, and see what’s been released, so I can procure new material to watch when I’m bored, which is a lot. During my last perusing of movies that I likely missed, one particular title caught my attention: King of the Fighters.

Admittedly, in the video game world, I prefer Street Fighter over KOF like people prefer a filet mignon over a Big Mac, but for what it’s worth, I’ve been admittedly entertained by SNK’s bastard retarded attempt at a fighting game franchise before. Long story short, upon learning that it was directed by Gordon Chan (Typical HK director) I knew what I was getting myself into, but I decided to watch it anyway.

Fucking Hong Kong directors – they pretty much always find a way to ruin any existing properties, and it should come as no surprise to anyone, that King of the Fighters was a piece of garbage. However, the bigger question is, how does it fare to Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li?
