More ambitious villain: Chaos or Reapers?

Seriously, I don’t know how ideas like this pop into my head sometimes.  But I got to thinking about video game bad guys, and wondering simply who was the most ambitious?  Most of the time, video game antagonists really aren’t that ambitious if you were to stop and think about it; often times, they want to “take over the world,” or “kill Chris Redfield,” or something unoriginal like that.  And in the end, I’ve deduced my comparison down to two evil entities, who are similar, but not quite the same in their motives – Chaos (or Garland) from the original NES Final Fantasy, and The Reapers from Mass Effect.

The Saved By the Bell / Friends Connection (A weak one)

So the last few mornings, while I’ve been doing my morning workout routine, I’ve been watching a lot of Saved by the Bell.  Much to my delight, it has been on in some ridiculous three-hour marathon pretty much every weekday morning, at the same time that I’m up and doing my morning routine.  For the last two weeks, every morning has been kind of a trip down memory lane, in some respect.

However, the episodes aren’t exactly placed in any particular order; some have been right after the Miss Bliss era, and they’ve jumped as far as into the College Years afterward.  Not that it’s any big deal to me since I’ve pretty much seen every single episode, but it did make me notice something, which is the chief reason why I decided to kill my last day on this particular assignment in Lithonia (which Lithonia sucks; when a Starbucks fails, you know the region is devoid of any success) with writing about a comparison . . .

Saved by the Bell was the show Friends, before Friends was Friends.

The Mass Effect – Secret of Mana Connection

One of the best parts of the redesign is the simplicity in which I can post now – I have a clever idea, or inspiration to write something, I’m more or less an internet connection away from making it happen.

My recent time-waster these days has been Mass Effect. Not Mass Effect 2, but the original. I tend to be behind a generation when it comes to video games not starting with “Left 4 Dead” or “Resident Evil,” and to be perfectly honest, I probably wouldn’t have given attention to Mass Effect if not for the amazing theatrical trailer that they showed during the AFC championship game that made me go “whoa.” So I went out and picked up the first one, since it’s a Platinum edition, and inexpensive, to acclimate myself to the story, and prepare myself for the day in which I too, move onto Mass Effect 2.

And I love the game. I’m currently on my second go-around, to go the more renegade route, as well as unlock a few XBOX achievements on the way. But I came to the realization recently of what Mass Effect is, basically – Mass Effect is the sci-fi version of Secret of Mana.
