Preview image from MegaCon – these guys were my favorites
I just got back home after spending the last few days down in Florida, for a fairly loosely planned trip, basically to get out into the world and do things. Needless to say, I do not sleep well in random two-star hotels, so I’m a little bit weary having going straight back to work after flying back.
But before I put myself back into a self-imposed mountain of personal tasks of writing things, processing and editing a ton of pictures to share with the rest of the internets, I will say that it was a very good trip, that I have no regrets about (actually, there is one trite regret, but it’ll be brought up later).
It’s hard to really explain, but there are times in which I more or less jones for some adventure in the sense of not really having any genuine plans and going out and doing things, and seeing what the metaphorical world brings to me. In other words, landing somewhere with little idea of where I’d be staying each night, and what to do with myself during the day, with hopes of good food, good drink, good company, and to get a good story or two out of it. Under the aforementioned criteria, it’s safe to say mission accomplished.
Over the weekend, I visited two baseball Spring Training facilities, and got my first-ever taste of Spring Training games. The Braves’ spring home in Orlando, as well as the Mets’ training ground out in Port St. Lucie. Sandwiched in between two days of baseball was a day spent at MegaCon, where I probably walked like five miles back and forth through the Orange County Convention Center doing nothing but taking pictures of people in costumes.
That being said, I took over 400 pictures on this trip. The next few days/week are/is going to contain a whole lot of time spent staring intently at a screen trying to get the best out of all the pictures I took. Hopefully, all the people and costumers I gave cards to so they can find pictures of themselves in the near future don’t visit my site too early and be like “wtf did i just walk into?” And although I will never proclaim to be someone who takes great photography, I figure I can catch lightning in a bottle from time to time if I’m lucky, and as I was reminded, my strength as a guy with a camera will always be that I actually post pictures in a fairly timely manner, or at all. Regardless, I look forward to reminiscing about the trip through the pictures I took, and hopefully I won’t drag my feet too much in getting them up.
Anyway, there are lots of things I could say about the trip, but for the sake of efficiency and productivity, I’ll hold off until another time. This is merely a post to superficially boost the number of posts I make in a month, and to give my six readers an inkling of idea what to expect in coming days, as well as so that any drive-by photo seekers don’t see a snarky post about the hypocrisy of Planet Fitness as the very first thing.
