Wrestling gone Hollywood, and not in the PPV subtitle kind of way

I came across this article that was taking odds on whom the next WWE star would be, that could break into Hollywood.  At first, I was kind of like “pffh no way” when they had ranked Seth Rollins to be the #1 choice to possibly make it onto the silver screens of Hollywood (and not just WWE Film productions), but then it dawned on me that frankly, I’d never actually given it much thought about who the next guy really could be.

Typically I watch wrestling, because I’m a supersmark that likes to think I’m smarter than everyone else when it comes to wrestling, but I’ve been kind of caught up in the cat-and-mouse game between the fans and Triple H, who is doing a damn admirable job of taking the predictions and perceptions of supersmarks like me that think we’re smarter than everyone else, and turning them in all sorts of less-predictable directions.  That being said, I’m not really thinking about the future endeavors (see what I did there) of the talent beyond what they’re doing on RAW.

But it’s an interesting idea, and upon giving it some thought, I took a little bit of time to actually think about who could follow in the footsteps of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and the more recent emergence of John “John Cena*” Cena, who did some show-stealing in Trainwreck with Amy Schumer, actually acting, instead of being a stone-faced Marine or vigilante.  Especially since with the more recent partnerships the WWE has flexed with relevant and popular celebrities such as Jon Stewart and Stephen Amell, instead of the days of when they used to bring in people nobody cared about like Snooki, such crossover pots could actually be stirred.

Quarians and Geth in the workplace

More recently, I made an analogy about workplace dynamics in regards to someone else’s workplace, but then came to realize that such an analogy could apply to most every workplace to some capacity, naturally of course, referring to my own as well.

But basically, in the workplace, there are workers that are Quarians, and then there are workers that are Geth.

Quarians are workers who are basically trying to survive.  Quarians have habits and tendencies that may seem dated and obsolete, but hey, they’ve worked at keeping us alive for X amount of time, there’s little reason to deviate from them, regardless of the fact that if superior, more efficient ways exist.  It’s like the Quarians in the Mass Effect storyline, they’re so caught up in general survival, that they’re never really able to put up an earnest fight against the Geth that have taken over their home world.

The chaos of subjectively judging Georgia cities

Real estate blog Movoto listed the “10 Best Places to Live in Georgia,” and it’s mostly filled with towns and cities on the outskirts of Atlanta.  Notably absent are any towns or cities within Atlanta “proper,” also known as “inside the perimeter (Interstate 285)” also known as “ITP.”

This, naturally has those who live ITP and think they rule the state completely up in arms, and when things happen that they don’t agree with, they do something about it: bitch about it on the internet.

Now I’m not entirely sure which side of which fence I stand on, but since I think I sometimes lean on the chaotic neutral side of the spectrum, ultimately I think I can find a bone to pick with all involved parties in this little online e-fracas.

My Five Wives Power Rankings

Since it’s no secret that I have a fascination with the litany of train wreck programming shown on TLC, it shouldn’t be a surprise that I’ve also been tuning into the latest people-watching debacle on the network, My Five Wives. This doesn’t mean that I support polygamy or anything in the least bit, but I do find it interesting to watch the fabricated lives of supposed real-life polygamists.

Personally, polygamy isn’t for me, because I find some of the backstory to Fundamentalist Mormonism somewhat disagreeable, with hints of greed and narcissism between the lines, loosely entwined with religion to make it taboo to argue against. Either way, it doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy a show that exploits the lives of a modern polygamist family.

WWE Power Rankings going into Wrestlemania season

Apparently, it’s a good thing I didn’t see the Royal Rumble, because the general consensus from scuttlebutt is that it was pretty much the worst show on the planet, worse than last year’s Wrestlemania, the fans were unhappy all over the internet, and from the sounds of it, the fans at the venue were none too pleased either. Thinking back to the results, the heel(s) won every single match, and piggy backing onto the notion that HHH cronies always benefit, it’s a valid complaint seeing as how the New Age Outlaws took the tag belts, Randy Orton retained the World titles and Batista won the actual Royal Rumble. Hell, even Kevin Nash made a little appearance coin by being a surprise entrant in the Rumble. From the smarky perspective, it makes sense why there’s a lot of unrest amongst “the Universe.”

But I’m not here to talk about the unrest, or Mick Foley’s (IMO worked shoot) Facebook post that is taking the smark interwebs by storm. I’m here to be a little more backhanded and indirect, and I’ve got nothing else to write, so this seemed like as good as anything to write since it’s intriguing to me today.

EA Sports presents eSPORTS ’14

That’s right. A video game about people playing video games. And why the hell not? As long as eSports are being recognized as professional sport, why shouldn’t they be able to have a game made out of it?

Think about that for a second. Imagine creating a character that plays video games, but not just any video games, but other EA sports video games. There’s a repeating image kind of redundancy about it, but that’s what professional gamers do for a living sometimes; why shouldn’t EA try and capitalize on that, and make the players in the game play other EA video games? In fact, they should make the capability to make their players play other EA titles as egregiously priced downloadable content, so that they can make even moar moneys!

But back to eSPORTS14. There’s so many directions that a game like this could be developed. Like FIFA, you could choose a nationality; the Koreans and the Chinese would be stupidly overpowered in talent and capability, but have single digits in charisma, marketability and personality. Europeans would score high in charisma, marketability and arrogance, and South American nations would have a 99 in trolling ability, and nothing else except maybe FIFA. And since North America is pretty much EA’s stomping ground, they would be given a fairly balanced kit to work with.

SDCC: Parting Thoughts

To me, posting all of the photos from Comic-Con is what officially makes Comic-Con a thing of the past now. Memories and faces, old and new are all viewable to all eight of my regular visitors and the rest of the would-be inquiring internet. I’ve shared most of my thoughts about the experience as a whole, and people I’ve photographed may or may not be pleased with the pictures of them that I took.

But before I shift my focus towards back to what lies ahead, I had a few more sporadic thoughts, opinions and words I’d like to get out before I officially close the book on the whole SDCC Experience and try to get back to somewhat of a regular schedule.
