The first leg of the Europe trip was Brussels, Belgium, where the semifinals of WORLDS was going to take place. It was pretty much a hit the ground running kind of trip, since as soon as we settled into our hotel in Brussels, we power napped for a while due to the jet lag I’d never experienced in my life before; by the time we woke up, it was pretty much time to go to the venue.
There’s nothing I haven’t already said about the WORLDS experience that wasn’t in my prior post about the event as a whole, but at least now I’m putting up some of the pictures from the event, which include my hot mythical girlfriend, as well as some shots from within the arena itself, attempting to show some of the atmosphere, the championship Summoner’s Cup, as well as some post-victory pictures from SK Telecom’s victory over Origen.
The rest of the pictures are more or less a litany of mushy couple selfies, as well as some of the places we hit up in our free time in actual Brussels, and not the shitty area surrounding the Brussels Expo area.
It was actually very interesting in the dichotomy of the city and the surrounding area’s demographics, because it felt very America-ish the way that on the outskirts, were there nary a minority in sight, but as soon as we hopped aboard the metro trains into the heart of actual Brussels, there was a dramatic shift where Muslim and Chinese people just appeared out of nowhere. It’s little things like this that really make me feel like despite the fact that I’m in a different part of the world, there are still occurrences like this that seem to happen no matter where you are.
Anyway, as was the case for the vast majority of this trip to Europe, food and drink steered our destinations, and we ended up checking off the list of things highly recommended to be consumed in Brussels, such as mussels (from Brussels huehue), waffles, and a mandatory stop to the Delirium Village, where we sampled a small variety of house brews, that were actually reasonably priced, being in the native country, as opposed to the ludicrous $10 charge for a glass in the states.
Also random fast food trips and vending machine experiments, such as Lays Paprika-flavored chips (which were amazing), before it was onto my first ever continental train ride, to Paris, France.
