I like cold weather

Not a lot of people do, which is puzzling to me.  I hate being hot, which is ironic, considering my love of baseball makes me have to endure 100 degree weather from time to time.  But I love that this time of the year, temperatures appropriately drop, and I don’t mind being outside so much.  I like the feeling of long sleeves and warm clothing, and the instantaneous warming of stepping inside from the cold.  The same cannot be said when we’re all hot, sweaty and miserable feeling going into an air-conditioned structure.  But most importantly, one thing I really love about this time of year is when I get to utilize the heated seats in my car, which does an excellent job of fighting off the morning chill.

All the right moves

In Inception, there is a car chase scene.  This does not spoil anything at all.  But the most interesting thing about the chase scene as a whole is that the protagonist vehicle is none other than a Hyundai Genesis.  Yeah, a Hyundai.  A Hyundai. It’s not really news, the growth of the once-little Korean car maker, but it’s moments like this that really make me realize of just how big they’ve grown, and that they’re playing in the big leagues now.

Chaotic productivity

Today, I:

  • Cleaned kitchen
  • Trimmed hedges
  • Ran laundry
  • Cleaned cat tyranny
  • Bought house essential
  • Changed oil in car

However:

  • Couldn’t get oil filter off of car due to lack of leverage, grew infuriated, had to settle for not changing it
  • Spilled a boatload of oil on driveway, had to dump a boatload of cat litter on it, and it will sit on my driveway for a few days
  • Burned my right forearm on an oil pan that was still scalding hot, resulting in blisters
  • OH YEAH, the chrome trim plate on the peak of my car’s grill snapped off, making my car look ghetto as hell, leaving me wondering if I can actually find a part number, or if I should try much luck at a junkyard for a piece of aesthetic trim.
  • John Smoltz statue fell down and snapped at the ankle like Sid Vicious, subsequently thrown away

I’m pleased with being productive with chores and tedious household tasks, but I’d gladly have put them off for something better to do, and subsequently had to gripe and bitch about how they needed to get done at a later time.

I guess this is the negligent consequence of being a little smitten.  Funny how things work out sometimes.

On the right (wrong) track

Commander Shepard is always relevant.

This Saturday morning, instead of being a contributing member of society and spending my sparing, but still hard-earned money on services and goods rendered that would help the economy, I’m rendered to a miserable, spiteful, cauldron of hatred, sitting outside of a Starbucks brogging angrily.

I hate to base an entire year off of a recent string of bad luck, events, and happenstance, but if this week is any indication of what the rest of 2010 has in store for me, I think I’d be better off jumping off Old Rag’s summit next weekend when I have the chance.
