That’s racissssst

Hard hitting journalism all across the interwebs today.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution asks: Is “thug” a racial slur?

According to Mirriam-Webster:

a violent criminal

So the answer is no.  Stop and period.  Stop being so racist AJC, and trying to inject the race card into a deck of UNO cards.  It’s just not going to work, no matter how much rhetoric you spout.

In Milliken, Colorado, a Hispanic restaurant has decided that they will acknowledge June 11th as “White Appreciation Day.”  All, and only white customers, will enjoy a discount on their orders.

“We have a whole month for Black History Month,” Antillon said. “We have a whole month for Hispanic Heritage Month, so we thought the least we could do was offer one day to appreciate white Americans.”

So there’s basically black awareness, Hispanic awareness, and now white awareness.  Where the fuck is Asian awareness?  According to Wikipedia, that’s supposed to be May, but the United States sure as shit doesn’t put any effort in tryna make this knowledge remotely public.

I’m pretty sure I can’t march into any businesses and inquire about Asian Heritage Month discounts, and actually expect to get any.  Unless it’s like at a weeaboo place or something, but still.

Whatever.  Errybody be racist.

Happy Asian Heritage Month, motherfuckers

Spoken like someone who doesn’t get BEST WORST HOLIDAY off

Impetus: Creative Loafing “article” about how Confederate Memorial Day should be ended.

For starters, this is the “author” of said “article.”  Can we say definition of white guilt here?  Or should I call it like it really is, which is the dreaded slow news day?

What the so-called Unofficial Governor of the Day doesn’t seem to realize is that if he were to get his wish and Confederate Memorial Day were ended, and no longer recognized as a state holiday that many, many Georgia state workers do not get off any more, there would likely be a large segment of said many, many Georgia state workers who would wish that his head ended up on a spike outside the walls of Kings Landing.

Stories like this sicken me

Literally.  Maybe it was the slice of pound cake earlier in the day, but I’d rather give credit to this shitty story for making me feel unwell earlier in the day.

Long story short: Brookhaven PR director is fired due to comments being taken out of context and preemptively reported as an incident of discrimination without all of the facts being present.

Brookhaven is a pretty nice neighborhood, just north of the actual city proper limits of Atlanta.  It’s also a neighborhood synonymous for being a somewhat affluent “white” neighborhood.

Two weeks ago, there was supposedly a festival being held in Brookhaven.  As lots of public events like to have, a photographer was hired to do some event photography during the festival, presumably so that the city as well as the PR department could have some ostensibly nice photos to glorify the expected success of the event itself.

I’m not entirely sure why this is a surprise to anyone

Long story short: White people run Gwinnett County, despite it being “the most diverse county in the (American) Southeast.”  Apparently, this is perceived as problematic to many.

When I worked for ScumTrust, ScumTrust really wanted to get their foot in the door with the mythical untapped wealth that was contained within Hispanic-American communities all across their foothold.  It was believed that Hispanics had a very limited number of financial institutions that they could reliably trust, and that there were thousands of Hispanics that alternatively, sacked cash away in pillowcases or plastic barrels buried on their properties.

Eventually, ScumTrust acquired a reputable Hispanic bank chain, and it was my department’s job to produce Spanish-language versions of just about everything we already had in order to market to the wealth of Hispanic customers that they wanted.

I have never wanted to Clothesline From Hell someone so badly in my life

Long story short: racial activists barge into busy brunch establishments on a Sunday morning to flash mob protest over the shooting of a black man by local police.

I’ll be honest, this wouldn’t have gotten under my skin if one of the places that were hit up wasn’t a place that I’d recently discovered for myself, enjoyed immensely, and would gladly go back in the future for weekend breakfast.

But it’s shit like this that absolutely baffles me, and wonders if the people who do this kind of protesting are even aware of the people that they’re protesting for?  Are they even aware of the hypocrisy they’re also perpetuating concurrently?

Case in point, this group that protested at all these restaurants this past weekend, they’re protesting over the fact that a black man was shot and killed just days earlier.  Basically declaring the incident as solely an act based on skin color, and that naturally, “black lives matter.”

Let’s talk about the word “foreigner”

And no, not the band.  I actually really, really love the band Foreigner.  They’re one of those groups that I’ve heard their music all the time growing up, and mostly in movies, like the Rocky series, but it wasn’t until I was older did I put two and two together, and realize that the band that sang the montage of my life growing up was in fact, Foreigner.  But not thatForeigner, despite the fact that they undoubtedly rule.  I’m talking about the word foreigner, when describing people.

I was standing in line at Starbucks (big surprise), and this girl up and conveniently “meets up” with a friend AKA completely cuts in line.  It’s not really that long of a line, and I’m a pacifist and reluctant to make a confrontation over such a trite matter, so I begrudgingly let it slide.

The girl then begins talking about how she was leaving a particular location, at the same time as a whole lot of what I’m guessing were classmates.  But she didn’t refer to them as classmates, she mentioned how “all the foreigners” left at the same time she did.  I wrinkled my eyebrow at hearing this, as it’s been quite a while since I actually heard someone refer to people from other countries as specifically “foreigners” like this manner.

Man, What A Stupid Commercial #016

Synopsis: Caucasian man, flying to/from presumably Korea calls flight attendant over to ask if there’s anything he can be given to deal with back pain.  Korean flight attendant suggests Bayer in perfect, accent-less English, to which man immediately shoots down as he explains that he is not having a heart attack, but back pain, furthermore goes to stand up and pantomime how much his back hurts.  Flight attendant elaborates that it’s Bayer Back and Body Pain, and when she checks back with him upon completion of the flight, he’s seemingly amazed that he does in fact feel better.

The bottom line is, the commercial is kind of racist.  Or at least the way the scenario pans out, it really portrays whitey as naïve honky who immediately dismisses the sounds coming out of a Korean woman’s mouth as gibberish, as if there’s no possible way that this chink could be speaking in his native tongue.
