So in this Chase Bank commercial, Drew Brees’s son kicks a football in the yard; but because he’s the son of Breesus, it’s implied that he has some genetic football talent passed down onto him despite the fact that his dad is a quarterback and not a Gramatica.  That being said, the ball goes sailing at a high velocity, to such a magnitude it breaks through several houses walls and windows, much to the chagrin of Drew Brees himself.  Bewildered neighbors stare at the carnage caused by the lead food of Brees Jr.

But no problem, because Drew Brees is an NFL quarterback, Drew Brees is rich as shit.  And thanks to his handy new Chase banking app, he’s able to parlay chunks of his shit-rich to his various neighbors whose homes have incurred damage at the leg of Junior.

I’d like to point out the part where Drew Brees wires $200 to one of his neighbors for a broken window.  Because I am currently dealing with a similar situation currently, however I cannot say that a young place-kicking prodigy kicked a football through my window.  No, it was just a freak accident involving my landscaper, a mower, and an errant stone in my yard that went sailing into my glass, shattering it.  It is not a big deal at all, considering it technically happened last year, and I’ve just been too lazy to deal with it until more recently.

Rockdale County is probably going to go broke after this year

Impetus: Rockdale County, Georgia, has decided that every student will be issued a laptop.  To do their homework.

Predicted result: by the end of the 2015-16 school year, Rockdale County, Georgia will suffer massive losses from stolen laptops, stolen parts, broken equipment, thieving and corrupt parents, students that move away or drop out, or any other factor that makes them regret putting thousands of dollars worth of laptops into the hands of teenagers, where they would have many hours of unsupervised time with them.

Seriously though, I really hope Rockdale has some pretty good legalese right now, to build a foundation from for future years of this, if this program lasts that long.  The thought is good, but the variable with the highest risk is simply the fact that people are involved.  I’ll be optimistic and say that like 85% of students will be fairly lawful and not too abusive of this arrangement, but the other 15% are going to really make the county ask themselves WHYYYYYYY??

Impetus: Georgia Department of Transportation to spend about $356,000 painting markings and clarifying lanes on the I-85/I-75 Downtown Connector to help attempt alleviate extraneous traffic caused by people changing lanes.

GDOT seems to think that traffic is caused by people who don’t know where they’re going, basically.  That’s why they think that spending a boatload of money to try and clarify directions better than it already is, would theoretically alleviate such congestion.

Such might be the case, as I-85 and I-75 are both major veins throughout the southeastern United States, but I have to believe it to be the vast minority of traffic causes.

For once, I agree with the Mayor

In short: the idea of an Atlanta casino has been planted, but Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed is reluctant about it, in spite of differing, majority opinion.

I’ve already said that I am on the side of the fence that is against the idea of an MGM casino in Atlanta. I’m actually kind of surprised that that opinion is kind of echoed by what the mayor feels about it:

“I’m not there on gaming at all. I believe Las Vegas is in Las Vegas for a reason,” the mayor said. “I just have real issues setting a facility in Atlanta where working folks get off work and walk into a gaming casino.”

V-I-R . . . G-I-L!! (video clip)

No but really, Virgil has a Gofundme set up, begging the world to actually make him into a literal, Million Dollar Man.  By asking the world to collectively raise together a million dollars, for well, no actual purpose, other than the fact that Virgil wants a million bucks.

It’s kind of amazing, because there’s really no way this can be deliberate, just how Virgil manages to be internet white hot for fifteen minutes, fizzle out, and just before he completely vanishes into complete obscurity, manages to do something like set up a Gofundme page asking for one million free dollars, do get right back into the public eye once again.  No way this is timed so perfectly, it just can’t be.

Why isn’t counterfeiting enforced more?

Impetus: Known Chinese counterfeiter living a comfortable life in the United States; ostensibly living the American dream off of hocking knockoff products.

Not long ago, I watched a mockumentary on HBO, 7 Days in Hell, starring Andy Samberg and Jon Snow Kit Harrington, who played opposing tennis players who were locked into the ultimate stalemate at Wimbledon, that lasted for seven days.

Not giving anything away, because it’s really funny, and I would implore anyone who likes tacky comedy, the utilization of fake, CGI male genitalia as cheap laughs, and the use of cultural stereotypes to watch this one-shot deal, but there’s a part where Andy Samberg is in Swedish prison, and decides to escape one day, so he can return to professional tennis.  And through narration after Samberg successfully escapes, it’s explained that “by Swedish national law, successfully escaping makes him a free man.”

Screwing players is where eSports bridges the difference gap to athletic sports

Impetus: Former AD carry for European team Fnatic, “Rekkles” rejoins Fnatic after being on a shitty team during 2015 spring split.  Fnatic cuts “Steelback,” the AD carry that contributed to Fnatic winning the 2015 spring split outright.

Normally, I try to remain neutral when it comes to the argument of “should eSports be classified as real sports,” because there are multiple parts of all arguments that I agree and disagree with.  But this is a story that upon reading it, makes me realize that eSports are very much capable of acting like athletic sports, when it comes to asset management; assets being the players themselves.

Personally, I think this is a really shitty scenario, in which ultimately, a good player is screwed and cut, on account of a supposed better player being available, and being immediately scooped up to replace him.  This is a similar situation that I’ve seen in all major athletic sports, be it baseball, basketball and football, and makes me feel the irony in that screwing players, is where eSports really can bridge the gap between themselves and athletic sports.
